Ghosts: An 87th Precinct Mystery | Ed McBain

#WeeklyForecast - I didn't post one last week because I wasn't home, and felt oddly adrift this week!! Currently reading a batch of 5 87th Precinct books, which I have been doing off and on for several months - 55 books in the series & I am in the 30s now haha This group has felt a little more ...over-the-top gritty, I guess. Haven't enjoyed them as much.

Anyway, planning to finish the tagged book & read Heat, then on to The Switch for #LMPBC. ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) The MHC book is from a box of random mystery books that @EadieB sent me a while back & I am still working through. Would Like to Meet & I've Got Your Number are both fro the romcom buying binge I went through in June. Mystery Mountain is a MG book I've had since, oh, 2003 & have never read. 😂 Beauty Sleep is a random book from the TBR, & the Peretti books I've been meaning to reread for like a decade & have been on my “short“ list ⬇ 4y

I didn't end up participating in #JubilantJuly which was sad for me, as I usually love the longer readathons. Hopefully I'll be ready for August instead!!

TheAromaofBooks @Marydent - here on Litsy MG usually refers to Middle Grade, so books aimed at readers ages 8-13 ish 4y

TheAromaofBooks @Andrew65 - for the most part, I have been really enjoying them. Batches of five are just about right for getting into the groove but not having them feel too same-y haha 4y

rabbitprincess Are you at the Eighty Million Eyes / Eight Black Horses part of the 87th series? One of those two was way too gritty for teenage me, but I can‘t remember which one 😳 4y

TheAromaofBooks @rabbitprincess - I read Eighty Million Eyes a while back... I don't specifically remember that one being too gritty, but it may have been haha Eight Black Horses should be in my next batch, and it looks like it stars the Deaf Man, my favorite villain. Out of this batch, Calypso was just tooooo over-the-top for me - there was a lot of gratuitous sex, a bizarre reason for the crime, & a torture scene that went too far - I get squeamish!! 4y
