Arsenic and Adobo | Mia P. Manansala

Have you ever tried making the recipes that are featured in the 📚 you read? Tonight, I baked Lila's Ube Crinkles recipe from the first book of the Tia Rosie's Kitchen cozy mystery series, and they were a big hit with the family. Book was very good, too. Give both a try! Beasts of Prey | Ayana Gray

The next row of my #readinglogsnake is Beasts of Prey. This was a #rplbooksandbrews read for June and If All Arkansas Read The Same Book for 2023. I love the author's take on African Mythos with this story. I may continue the series later. 3/5 ⭐️ #ARRCReads #BooksAndCrafts

The next row of my #readinglogsnake is The Many Daughters of Afong Moy. This was a fantastic read that explores how trauma experienced with one person can impact future generations. After reading, I took some time to think through my personal trauma and the potential it has of impacting my own descendants. Also, I loved how the author chose a person from #AAIP history (Afong Moy aka The Chinese Lady). 5/5 ⭐️ #ARRCReads #BooksAndCrafts

The Bone Shard Emperor | Andrea Stewart
post image

Next row of my #readinglogsnake is The Bone Shard Emperor. I am a fan of the Drowing Empire series and felt this was a good follow up to the first book. The magic system is interesting, but there are still alot of items that are still a bit hazy in explanation. Maybe they will become clear in the next book. 4/5 ⭐️ #ARRCReads #BooksAndCrafts

Next row in my #readinglogsnake is The Only Survivors. This was a slow burn thriller about a group of former classmates that survived a horrific accident during a trip and preform a yearly pilgrimage to reunite and keep each other safe. Ten years later, 2 are dead and 1 has gone missing at the beginning of the reunion. The story was interesting, but I felt the ending was a let down. 3/5 ⭐️ #ARRCReads #BooksAndCrafts

Next row in my #readinglogsnake is The Fortunes of Jaded Women. Read this in honor of #AAPIHeritageMonth. Also, this is my first general fiction book, so I have picked the color green to represent it. This tells the story of how a curse and generational trauma follows the Duong women through centuries and impacts their lives today. Highly recommend. 4/5 ⭐️ #ARRCReads #BooksAndCrafts

The Terraformers | Annalee Newitz
post image

Next row of my #readinglogsnake is The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz. I did enjoy the book. It had a lot of deep themes in this story, but I felt like I got lost in what message the author was trying to get through because there were so many. I did love the concept of talking animals and human-like AI that are able to switch to different vehicles to serve their needs. 3/5 ⭐️ #BooksAndCrafts #ARRCReads

bnp There is a lot going in here isn't there! And the time scale - I wanted to find out what happened to characters in each time period. 1y

Next row of my #readinglogsnake is for a #rplbooksandbrews read - Cultish by Amanda Montell. This book doesn't just examine notorious religious cults, it also examines the language used by MLMs and extreme exercise groups. I found this to be a very fascinating read and recommend this to anybody anyone who wants to examine the 'why' people join cultish groups. 4/5 ⭐️ #BooksAndCrafts #ARRCReads

The Stardust Thief | Chelsea Abdullah
post image

Next row of my #readinglogsnake is The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah. A fantasy reminiscent of Ali Baba and the 40 thieves, complete with djinn and adventures. I love how many of the old Arabic tales were woven to make this story. I am eagerly waiting the next in this series. Strongly recommend this book. 5/5 ⭐️ #BooksAndCrafts #ARRCReads

Next row of my #readinglogsnake is The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd. I read this over Easter weekend. This work of fiction tells the story of Ana, who is Jesus's wife. I found this story interesting as it focused more on feminist theology by giving insight into the daily lives of women during biblical times instead of being another biblical retelling. 3/5 ⭐️ #BooksAndCrafts #ARRCReads
