I'm finally digging out of Covid haze. It's been a long 2 weeks but this happened before that❣️. My son got engaged....And also November #bookspin with a favorite author!

#OnThisDay in 1931 a rare copy of Edgar Allan Poe's Al Aaraaf, Tamerlane, and Other Poems and first editions of The Scarlet Letter and Moby-Dick were stolen from New York Public Library by Samuel Dupree, on behalf of a crooked New York antiquarian book dealer, Harry Gold. The tagged chronicles the exploits of the thieves. Fiona Davis took inspiration from this brazen theft for her historical fiction title Lions of 5th Ave. #HistoryGetsLIT
This was quite an extensive operation. 😳
The missing books were valued at more than $3.4 million. There were 240 books in all, including early versions of some of the most significant printed works of European history, such as Albert Einstein‘s own 1621 copy of astronomer Johannes Kepler‘s The Cosmic Mystery, in which he lays out his theory of planetary motion.

Detective Max Rupert has become the bad guy or has he, when Max gets some new information on his wife death it changes everything. Max is on a mission and his end game is going to upset the underworld.
I struggled with this book only with my own moral code, but what happens when the people who‘s job is to protect the vulnerable people in are society lets them down and innocent people get cut down because they want to protect vulnerable.
I finished The Deep Dark Descending by Allen Eskens! This is not a book I would have picked up, but my youngest asked me to read it... A burnt out, middle age cop is trying to solve the murder of his wife and a prostitute. The whole book takes place in a three day period. It moved very quickly.
Somehow, neither of my children are readers! :( Both my ex-husband and I are avid readers so I don't understand why my children aren't. So, when my youngest asked me to read this book because she had read it and liked it, I was like, Of Course I Will Read This Book! :) I'm not that far in, but it's pretty good so far. It's not something I would have picked up and read, but when my daughter asks me to, of course I'm going to read it.
Like all the MN references throughout Esken‘s novels. Quick detective books that seem predictable but can still keep you guessing. #audiobookrun
This is book 2 of Before The Storm by Diane Chamberlain. It was an overall good book. The ending did leave open questions about what happened to the main characters but maybe that is because she may decide to continue the story later on.
Starting the 2nd sequel to Before The Storm while it is raining outside today.
Finished this audiobook yesterday during the #LitsyWalkathon. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a perfect light and easy summer read. 💕
