I had never heard of the Sears schools. This picture book was as fascinating as it was beautiful.

Dear Mr. Rosenwald by Carole Weatherford published in 2006 was such a touching book about multiple different scenarios but about the same people. It is an empowering story about an African-American community who builds their own school. Based on the true story of the Rosenwald schools built in the rural African-American South in the 1920s, the story talks about a third grader Ovella as her family and community help each other build a new school.

My little boy is really struggling at the moment. And a friend saw the tagged book in Waterstones and it really reminded her of him. He loved it 😊 but he‘s in bed now so instead you get a picture of me and Sky #dogsoflitsy

I love this book. I brought this home today after my nine-year-old‘s official diagnosis. He loved listening to it and seeing himself in some of it, and realizing some elements were not his struggle. Then he wanted his little sister to read it to help her understand him better ❤️.

This is an amazing book! It tells the story of the #StatueofLiberty through short text and brightly colored illustrations. Most importantly, it reinforces the idea of the US as a nation that welcomes immigrants. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #PictureBooks #BackgroundKnowledge

Gorgeous illustrations, powerful text, and excellent reference materials, including a biographical timeline, make this an engaging introduction to the life and work of #NobelPrize winner #WangariMaathai. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #PictureBooks #BackgroundKnowledge #DiverseReads #NastyWomen #Africa
