(Day 25 - #BrassInPocket)
*Brass in one‘s pocket is money, and the brass Chrissie Hynde is referring to in the accompanying video is the change a waitperson receives in tips. (Hynde actually worked as a waitperson in Akron before her move to London.) This title prompt made me think of “Sweetbitter,” a tale about a waitperson in New York just trying to find acceptance, love, and maybe even a little “brass in [her] pocket.”

I thought of this brass-titled Nancy Drew mystery I read years ago. I suppose if you found a brass-bound trunk full of jewelry & documents, you would have #BrassinPocket at least maybe from a reward?😉 Also I once made the Brass-Bound Trunk Candy from The Nancy Drew Cookbook for a book tour review. (Link 👇🏻if you want to see it) but you don‘t want it “in pocket“ as it will melt! 😆
Funnily, my first thought for #BrassInPocket was brass knuckles, which led me to think of the tagged book?? It‘s been a day so far...haha!
Horowitz works his magic with Sherlock Holmes in this dark story. I really enjoyed this one. #LilithJuly

I‘ve only read the Bosch series by this author, but have the first couple in this series for when I‘m ready!
Elinor Oliphant sets out on a quest to get noticed. #lilithjuly #brassinpocket @Cinfhen @KarenUK

The ‘Brass‘ in the song means money, so I thought of this recent B&N bookclub pick.
Once I found my groove with Blake‘s very descriptive writing, I really enjoyed this multi-generational family saga set on a family‘s private island.
On the surface there is elegance and privilege, yet hidden beneath the shallow veneer is an underbelly of secrets, lies and prejudices. It lead to a great discussion! Lots to talk about!
I confess, nothing came to mind from today‘s #LilithJuly prompt, but Google lead me to this “exciting British crime thriller” on Kindle Unlimited. Only gets a 3.67 rating on Goodreads though...
