C is for...cookies! Last remnant of birthday celebration.

C is for...cousins. Kinsey has ‘em but doesn‘t know ‘em yet.

C is for...#CaliforniaGurls which applies to Kinsey and her cousins and the ladies at the insurance company where she sometimes works.

Isabel Allende and her daughter Paula are my #californiagurls Although Chilean they moved to California. This memoir evolved from the letter that Isabel started to her daughter when she went into a coma. I loved this back in the 90s, now that I have a daughter myself I imagine it would be hard to read some parts.

Lidia It's such an emotional book 6y

I just reviewed the tagged book-essays about America's obsession with dead women in literature & pop culture & also about the author's move to L.A. & experiences there. Bolin frequently mentions California icon, author Joan Didion & her books, novels & essays about California & Los Angeles. Bolin also notes the main reason she moved in with her second L.A. roommate was because she had a cat named after Didion.😽

Vertabrain Love Joan Didion...especially her earlier collections of essays, Slouching Toward Bethlehem and The White Album!! 6y

I remember loving this book, and for whatever reason this section still sticks with me ... "we don't deserve the spring, and we don't deserve the winter either. They just exist."

Happy Birthday to Anjelica Huston!Born in Santa Monica, makes her one of the #californiagurls. She was raised in Ireland ,her father filmmaker John Huston, became an Irish citizen. The last film he made,on oxygen ,in a wheelchair, was “The Dead”from the James Joyce story.I loved her dads respect for literature, and to see this story come to life on film , a wonderful thing.Since Dubliners is my favorite book of short stories, I was enchanted by it.

JamieArc Cool! Thanks for sharing! I‘ve always had a mild fascination with Anjelica Huston ever since seeing her in The Witches. 6y

I haven‘t read this book yet but there‘s bound to be some #californiagurls in it! I know this a dystopian story that takes place in parts of California after they leave LA behind. It‘s gotten good reviews! #heatofjuly #photochallenge

Turns out I'm actually descended from #californiagurls and boys. Might be the wrong California, mind.

When I was researching my family history a few years back, I traced back to a small farm in California, a slum area of Hartlepool. After several court hearings, the farmer eventually was sent to prison for (repeatedly) watering down the milk. His long-suffering wife remained at the farm for several more years. #heatofjuly

Set in dystopian San Francisco - though you‘re never sure if they‘re girls or androids 🤷‍♀️

BarbaraBB I really enjoyed this book... unexpectedly 6y
