I‘ve never done competitive swimming but know I would have been terribly gracious to my momma‘s ingrown flotation device IYKYK
Plus my school didn‘t have a pool until I graduated. Bad luck as I do enjoy swimming & no longer have access
A great YA graphic with some bullying, social class conflict (rich dad/poor dad). I also covers the racism Black girls have had to deal with their own access to pool use
You see horrible, bullying teacher here.
A fun time with a good rhyme. ☺️ I love the art style, both that the animals are familiar shapes but shaded in a mix of almost neon bright and pastel coloured pencil(?) not necessarily found in theanimal kingdom, and anthropomorphized just enough to feel like their own menagerie of storybook creatures. The sweet story beats of training and competing in high fives makes it feel like one long celebration and encouragement from start to finish. 🥰
@LiseWorks here are my points for the second half of #wintergames24 for the #holidaybookdragons
“She may be fast, but I‘m quick, and that‘s just the same.“
In The Quickest Kid in Clarksville by Pat Zietlow Miller, young Alta loves to run faster than anyone else in her town, but when a new girl, Charmaine, shows up with a pair of shiny new sneakers, Alta starts to wonder if she can still be the fastest.
an inspiring story about self-esteem, sportsmanship, and the power of kindness
