“ 'Goodness, how it stormed!' Pippi would say. 'Even the fishes were seasick and wanted to go ashore. I saw a shark that was absolutely green in the face and an octopus that sat holding his head in all his many arms'“

🤣

I love Pippi Longstocking and wanted to be just like her. I still do! She‘s a rule-breaker, she‘s outrageous, she‘s fearless, she‘s self-sufficient and she has a kind and generous heart. This is the 2nd book in the series & just as much fun as the first. Only this time, we get to meet Pippi‘s almost as strong and equally outlandish seafaring Dad.
Thanks @TheBookHippie for bringing Pippi back into my reading life.😍📖

PurpleyPumpkin So glad you‘re enjoying these books! My hold just came in from my library. I‘ll be diving into this one soon. You know, I don‘t think I‘ve ever read it!😲 4d
UwannaPublishme Yay! Your hold came in. Get ready for Pippi to knock your socks off. 😁 She‘s quite a character! Hope you‘re doing well and enjoying some warmer weather over there. ❤️ 4d

Can we do #TuesdayTunes on a Thursday night?? This just came up on a Spotify-curated playlist, and I could smell that school bus seat vinyl and that particular teenage muskiness. Man…took me straight back to high school. Hadn‘t heard the song in years!

vivastory And how many corners do I have to turn?
How many times do I have to learn
All the love I have is in my mind? 🎶
So good!

BarbaraBB Of course we can! I didn‘t know this The Verve song but am listening to it while typing this. I love it when a song brings back such memories! 1w
BarbaraBB Still listening and what a good album! I only knew them from their biggest hit here, Bitter Sweet Symphony, which I didn‘t like much. 1w

Megabooks @BarbaraBB yes! This was an album I bought back then for their single, but I like the rest of the album much more now than BSS; although the orchestral background is still great. I associate that song with the final scene in Cruel Intentions, which was my college roommate‘s favorite movie so I saw it A LOT! Many good memories with her! 😁😁 1w
Megabooks @BarbaraBB I‘m definitely a nostalgia listener, but I‘m picking up some great new songs too lately. 1w
Megabooks @vivastory the lyrics definitely hit harder as an adult than they did as a teen. 1w
BarbaraBB I‘d love to know what you‘re picking up these days and hope you‘ll continue #ThursdayTunes 😜🥰 (edited) 1w
TieDyeDude This song is new to me, but I like it! Similar orchestral arrangement to BSS. Is that throughout the album? 1w
Bookwomble @TieDyeDude Yes, it is. I'd recommend Richard Ashcroft's solo albums to you, especially Alone With Everybody and Human Conditions. Song for the Lovers from the former has a great orchestral introduction 😊 https://open.spotify.com/track/7a90gal9tr3yS8bEXUvu8D?si=-O-28vPQSKOgNjSPsyRh4A&... (edited) 7d
Megabooks @Bookwomble thanks for chiming in! And recommending another artist I‘ll check out! I hope you try the album @TieDyeDude 👍🏻 6d
Bookwomble @Megabooks You're welcome. Richard Ashcroft is the lead singer and main songwriter for The Verve, so if you like them, you'll like him 😊 6d
Megabooks @Bookwomble I am SO BAD at knowing the names of band members! 😂😂 even bands I‘ve enjoyed for years I‘d have trouble naming them. 6d
Bookwomble @Megabooks You only know if you know! 😊 6d

I was reminded of this book when reading The Museum of Words . I didn‘t know we had a copy. I mentioned it and it appeared from the depths of my partners study. The joy of this book for me are the illustrations. A story in themselves without the words. Not a childhood memory for me but I think it might be for lots of people as it was for Georgia Blain.
