This Day in June was the only one not available from my local Library. I bought a copy to read and donated. I'll reread Marlon Bundo during Banned Books Week. 🐰

Defiant | Bobbi Smith

One of my all time favorite movies is The Defiant Ones, with Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis. It's been remade a couple of times but the first one is the best.

I remember this episode well, when Riker showed up I was like WTF is he doing on DS9, but then after the reveal, it made perfect sense Thomas would have joined the Maquis, always the rebel. Riker and Kira made a cute couple though.

Megabooks I‘ve never seen this movie. I‘ll have to look it up. I especially liked the part of the episode where Kira says something to the effect of, “Terrorist don‘t get to be heroes.” Yet, Riker gives up himself to save his crew. Frakes and Visitor definitely had good chemistry in this episode. And I always liked Sisko and Dukat trying to one-up each other. 5y

Megabooks @LiterRohde I understand. I think, in 30 years, when I‘m 70, or possibly sooner, I won‘t understand fame at all. All these YouTube stars and Instagram influencers have me 🤷🏻‍♀️. I sort of get reality TV, but with YouTube, Instagram, and Cameo, there are so many more ways to monetize fame from one season or one episode even of a reality show or viral video. Sometimes I feel stuck in the stone age of old Hollywood or just the 20th century! 😂 5y

Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body | Roxane Gay

I like memoirs/nonfiction by women who are #Defiant about Western cultural norms of beauty/thinness. As a bigger woman myself, I feel a kinship with them.

I chose #Defiant as the first day of #StarTrekSummerJune because it‘s the name of the ship that the DS9ers use. The episode also closes up the Will Riker body double storyline, & it opens up a number of storylines eventually leading the Cardassians to join the Dominion. & I love Kira episodes!
