Jane eyre was a tranquil and beautiful book to read; I found myself transported to a much more simple era but could readily relate to the emotions experienced by the narrator. Whilst incredibly progressive for its time, it was fascinating to learn about the expectations of women wrt marriage. I was not entirely satisfied with the ending, but overall really enjoyed reading this story. A romantic novel with a strong female lead.
Even though I already have both these books in other lovely editions. I just couldn‘t resist these for 5 dollars with my Half Price coupon ๐
Just finished rereading Jane Eyre for the third time, but now I had my own copy where I marked all my favourite parts and interesting bits. I guess you could say I love this book. ๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ผ#classics #janeeyre
Now that the wedding is over and I don‘t have any time restraints on further projects, I thought I would try to tackle a difficult classic. I‘m listening while reading along and that does make it easier.
This copy of Jane Eyre was published in 1943 and I bought it at a second hand book store in Boulder, CO when I was in college in 2007 or so. It took me quite a long time to get around to reading it, but I'm so glad I finally did. It was creepy, gothic, romantic (if you can ignore the manipulation and gaslighting), and shockingly modern in it's tone and prose. I absolutely loved it โค๏ธ
In addition to Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House, Jane Eyreโone of the greatest books everโwas also published on this day. The 16th of October ... what a monumental day for #spinsterlit ๐ค๐๐ฝ
โTill morning...I was tossed on a buoyant but unquiet sea, where billows of trouble rolled under surges of joy. I thought...I saw beyond its wild waters a shore...now and then a freshening gale, wakened by hope, bore my spirit triumphantly towards the bourne: but I could not reach it...a counteracting breeze...continually drove me back. Sense would resist delirium: judgment would warn passion. Too feverish to rest, I rose as soon as day dawned.โ

I‘ve read and listened to this book many times. It was time to revisit it again. The 2011 version of the movie is my favorite, and now I picture these actors when I read. #myfavoritebook 5/5โค๏ธs always.
Page 172/433, unfortunately somehow this magnificent book became boring the moment she became a governess and met our leading man. If a tv show became boring i would move on after a couple episodes left me uninvested; so, i will treat this book the same way, save myself some many boring/frustrated hours, read a different book, and come back to this when i am ready and refreshed and having forgotten the feeling of boredom.

Decided on the books I‘ll be focusing on for the rest of the month and for the #24B4Monday Readathon.
I‘ve recently started the tagged book (I‘ve never read it before). And I‘m about 80 pages into Pachinko.
My goal is to finish 3 more books before the end of the month, very ambitious!! ๐ฌ๐ฌ
Hands down one of the best or the best books I have ever read. Both the execution and plot/character is perfect. I love this book and something about its personality has brought me back to fourth grade which was somewhat of a golden age of reading for me. I am on Chapter 10, 85/433 pages in.

Watched this version of Jane Eyre on Netflix this week and god, Mia Wasikowska was amazing! I know she doesn‘t want to be typecast as the nineteenth century literary heroine actress, but I would pay to see her do all my favourites! Also Michael Fassbender... I‘ve never really been a Rochester fan... but Fassbender, I‘m prepared to swoon for Fassbender! ๐๐๐๐
My husband is a Friends fan ๐
Out of curiosity I decided to go through the #1001books list and pull out the books I own but haven't yet read from it. I made quite a nice pile ๐ 38 here, and I also have about 8 in ebook. #neverendingtbr
Loved this classic - plot, writing and characters! Jane Eyre is one of my favorite fictional characters now. Love her sassy, resilient & strong attitude.

I firmly believe that, had she been around, our Jane would have read and enjoyed Jane Eyre. Despite the fact that Charlotte Brontë apparently didn‘t appreciate Jane Austen‘s novels...
I try not to hold that against Charlotte because Jane Eyre is awesome. ?
My hands down favorite book. Rereading again. Because comfort is needed.
Seems one thing after another lately, I am not a complainer ever. But after I recovered from food poisoning fully, this week I threw my back out. I can‘t walk or move at all. Excruciating pain. My family all moved too recently so I‘m on my own with my toddler. I can‘t catch a break! Thank God for good booksโค๏ธ needing the escape more then usual right now.
