It was easy to pick The Incandescent as my May pick, since it has a huge standout for me. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being my favorite read of the year.

If you work at a magical boarding school, preventing demonic incursions is just part of the job, and Doctor Walden is extremely good at her job, despite her own past experience with demonic incursions.
I loved this book. I thought the perspective of a magical school from a teacher was incredible. I also loved the magic system within the book and the way it intertwined with everything. Overall, I loved the directions this book went in.
Picking up from Penric‘s Mission this sees Penric still trying to get General Arisaydia and his sister, Nikys across the border to safety. It‘s not going particularly well - until they take shelter in a brothel with a louse problem. Long story short, Mira‘s (one of the imprints that makes up Desdemona) expertise as a courtesan plays a heavy role in eventually getting them all to safety. As always, I love the slice of life nature of these books.
My #bookspinbingo card for May.
No Bingo this time, but I didn't get much chance to read this month as I'd like.
Birthday book haul from River City Books in Soldotna, Alaska. I‘m planning on reading the tagged book first. I also ordered another one. 🙂

Hung out at the Farmers market on Saturday afternoon - had some boba tea, listened to live music, and finished this book! It was great! Kind of different from what I was expecting, but definitely in a good way! 💕📚
I haven‘t posted a book review in May yet. 😬😬
Finished this one on 5/5/25. It was okay, a little long. Music, demons, princes of hell, smut.
