Day 12: Two #disabilityreads I loved. The hero of the first and the heroine of the second are blind but they are both amazing. As are their significant others.

#disabilityreads These are the books I read most often after my son‘s diagnoses in the 80‘s/90‘s.
Asperger‘s Syndrome was given to me by my son‘s pediatric neurologist when Aspergers was seldom heard of. It proved to be a vital tool as my son was the 1st hands-on student in his school district. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder particularly Aspergers.

I really struggled with #literaryluck #disabilityreads. I am the first to admit I am lacking in having read books with characters w/ disabilities, mainly because I haven‘t yet had a need that those characters could fill. Other people who do, deserve characters w/ disabilities w/ which they can identify. Last night I thought abt Mr Rogers, how he taught children abt the differences & similarities between abled bodies & differently abled bodies.👇🏻
I read this book the year before last after wanting to read it for what seems like forever. I‘m so glad I eventually picked it up because I really enjoyed reading a book from a different perspective. The main character has autism and it was interesting to see the way he processed things.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
#literaryluck #disabilityreads l choose out of my mind because like myself, the protagonist has cerebral palsy. I love Melody because she has sass! I felt the book gave an honest portrayal of what it's like to have CP. For those of you who have kids in #middlegrade, I hope you will consider having them read this book.
