I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

One my all time favorite books that I enjoyed even more re-reading it after many years. But oh boy, did Paul not share my opinions about this. Join us for a discussion about religion in sci-fi, Orson Scott Card and a of course the sequel to Ender's Game - Speaker for the Dead on episode 44 of the Mind Duck Books Podcast: https://bit.ly/3IJmr8O

We are also on video for this one: https://youtu.be/Cd3YhrobKEc

Ender's Game | Orson Scott Card

I read Homebody by this author a while ago and I really enjoyed it. I know this book is a much more popular book by him so I figured I should read it and see what all the talk is about 😄 I actually wasn‘t aware this was a whole series, so hopefully the first one delivers well so I can read the rest!

Very good. Both a philosophical and sci-fi piece of literature which brought the work together brilliantly. It brings to light the difficulties of communication and questions the morality of humans. Very much a man vs self type of story, yet there are parts where it's man vs man or man vs bugger if you want to go there.

Just finished listening to the Audio book for this one and it was a little hard to fallow at times. I liked some of the ideas the book was playing with. Such as the god spoken, and the fight over what to do with the descolada. I think if I‘d read this right after the other books I might have liked it more but it‘s been a while since I‘ve read the first 2 books in the series. Overall I liked it

I agree with @TheAromaofBooks - this just doesn't work for me the way it's presented. If it would've been an adult novel about a highly intelligent boy and the society of the future it could've been a deep and intriguing story. But as YA? No, this is just confusing and disturbing.

My fist DNF in 2023.

TheAromaofBooks If I remember correctly, wasn't Ender supposed to be like 6?? That just didn't work for me with the level of emotional maturity he needed to make the choices he was making. And the story was just so relentlessly depressing. It had its moments and an intriguing concept, but I never felt any need to read the sequel. 2y
Jari-chan @TheAromaofBooks Yes, he was six. That's why I couldn't take the book serious either. The author could've made the book about a childhood genius or something similar, that might have worked. But the way the story is written I just don't think the character is credible. 2y
