4.5 ⭐ You know that feeling when you have waited too long to read a really good book. I‘m living that now. I‘ve had Thornhedge since it came out and I already know I love T. Kingfisher. But no, I waited on this. The story that this woman can put in 111 pages. It‘s sweet, it‘s uplifting, it‘s happy, it‘s fascinating. Let the adjectives continue. This is a sleeping beauty retelling that imagines a different villain and a different reason

Happy Gotcha Day to this beautiful girl! We adopted Boots January 31, 2011. She was a year and a half. Today she‘s 15. Hard to believe that much time has passed! She has chronic kidney disease now but is doing well overall. We love her so much ♥️ #CatsOfLitsy

I absolutely loved this! I‘m a complete sucker for a Beauty and The Beast retelling and this one even had some spice.

It's T. Kingfisher. So it's good. It really is. I loved the characters, especially Hester and Penelope. And I loved the fact that the females make the stories, the males are barely there to be there and help out. Everything else is true Kingfisher. Magic, humor, fantasy. Can't get enough of her.

A short novella. I liked the concept but I wish it would have been a full novel with more character development and world building. A little heavy with themes of sexual assault so be warned before you begin. I loved the feminist themes but it just didn‘t land for me as a great retelling of a Sleeping Beauty story.

I enjoyed the artwork in this version of the classic fairy tale. I went back & read the Grimm‘s version online to see the gentling down in the modern versions (like princes being banished rather than beheaded for not discovering the mystery). A quick & nostalgic read. 💛

I‘m continuing with my 2025 #bookspin plan to just post sections of my shelves, with a February theme of pink and red. Plus my bookclub book. Ready for Bookspin day @TheAromaofBooks ! 🙂📚🩶

After 3 weeks of avoidance and reluctant reading, I am DNFing my #FoodandLit choice for January. I'm half way through and I just do not want to keep reading. A shame, as I've owned the book since 2016!

In the year of our lord, 1991, there came a foreign movie I watched called The Polar Bear King about a girl who fell in love and married with man who was cursed. The curse was that she may never look upon his face. Well she did which caused him to be lost. She journeyed to rescue him through many a trial to win him back. This book is a retelling of that story which was a retelling of the Ancient Greek story of Eros and Psyche. Cat pic for fun
