I‘ll start by saying that I‘ve always loved the story of the Wizard of Oz.Wicked strayed from the original story a bit, but not enough to bother me. This book strayed a bit too far away for my liking. I hardly recognized any of the original characters or storyline. Maybe that is what the author intended. There are many questions left unanswered, but there are two more books in this series. I may or may not read them.

Shahrzad decides to avenge her best friend by marrying Khalid the murderous king who takes a new bride everyday only to kill her the next morning.
I love the details and research done by the authors, it gets translated into the food, culture, clothing, architecture, etc. The writing is good too, a definite page turner. Just the sheer speed I read this with. Love the characters and cannot wait to devour the second one too.
5/5🌟

Amor4Libros This sounds great, stacked! 1d

I have read a lot of pagan literature but surprisingly, have not heard of this old tale until now. I fell in love with it and want to see what else I can find about it. I‘m really interested in the bay of decapitated men🤣I enjoyed the heavily influenced Celtic art in this book. Ultimately, this story is about women in power but there are many themes of pagan lore, magic, moral choices, love, and death.

I‘m 2/3 the way through and the strange kind of foreshadowing in this book (because the FMC is an oracle who can see the potential futures) is killing me in a way I love. Very excited to see how this truly ends!

BookBelle84 One of my favourites! 2d

So my Litsy friends. Which one should I start with, which should I skip?

staci.reads Circe is incredible if you're in the mood for a feminist myth retelling. House in the Cerulean Sea is so endearing and hits the heart if that's more your mood right now. Bith 5 star books for me but completely different experiences. 3d
