This isn‘t exactly a book about mindfulness. The author loses his brother suddenly to an aggressive form of cancer, it upends his world. He leaves a beloved ( but challenging) job at The New Yorker to be a guard at the Met, the most beautiful place he knows. This story covers his 10 years as a guard where the art soothes him and he begins to recover and watch how the art helps others. It was meditative to listen to #fridaynightshare #litsolace

Our final #Fridaynightshare is to recommend a favourite book on mindfulness.

Right now, I'm hidden away in Sherwood forest on a family holiday. There is very little technical connectivity but plenty of spiritual, so all is good.

I'm looking forward to all your suggestions. 📚📚📚

dabbe I don't know if this one qualifies by Susan Cain, but it changed my life and my way of thinking. It made me realize that I was just fine as an introvert and that our so-called voices are just as important. 5mo
Avanders Being hidden away in a place called Sherwood Forest on a holiday sounds glorious. 🤩 Book on mindfulness? I really love the tried but true 5mo
AllDebooks @dabbe this does sound good. Stacked! 📚 5mo
AllDebooks @Avanders it is blissful, so quiet. Just what we need. That is a great book. x 5mo
AllDebooks I've just started this, and it is an incredible eyeopener. Examines emotions, behaviour patterns and attitude towards food, with a mindfulness lens. 5mo
AllDebooks I really love the Leaping Hare press series on mindfulness about specific subjects. There are over 25 different titiles https://www.quarto.com/series/Mindfulness-Series 5mo
wanderinglynn This is one I listened to first as an audiobook then bought the physical book so I could keep referring back to it: 5mo
StaceGhost I just finished What You Are Looking For is in the Library and it was lovely and mindful and low stakes and just what I needed right now 5mo
AllDebooks @StaceGhost 💚 I have this on my Kindle, bumping it up the tbr list. 5mo

A little late tonight with our #Fridaynightshare

What are your recommendations for a good mystery or thriller?

My choice for tonight's #Fridaynightshare is without doubt The Voyage of the Beagle, Charles Darwin exhilarating record of his travels as a young man, that sowed the idea of evolutionary change. This experience, this journey had a life-changing effect on his direction in life.
I have lost count the number of times I have reached for this book. It brings me great comfort and joy.

#Fridaynightshare Anything by Mary Kay Andrews is, in my opinion, the ultimate #BeachRead . 😁

Tagged a favorite beach read. I truly do enjoy beach reads of all kind in summer. 🏖️ I bought a fun chair to ferry in my car and pull over at random water as I please this summer. Weird, I know. I pass a lovely Lake Michigan beach when I pick up my daughter from school. I‘m maximizing 🤣

Bookwormjillk Happy Friday! I love reading Stephen King on the beach. 5mo
Librarybelle Happy Friday! I just finished a book that would be a good beach read: 5mo
mcctrish I have three summer read favourites - something huge that I can finally read cuz I have the time ( A Suitable Boy, A Little Life have been past reads) something light ( Elin Hildebrand, Jenny Colgan) and something themed to wherever we might be traveling to ( this summer we are going to Scotland for the first time and I‘ve got Julie Shackman and Jane Bettany loaded on my kindle) and I‘m looking for suggestions beyond those light reads 5mo
TheBookHippie I always reread 🤣🫣🤪 5mo
ElizaMarie I don't have a summer read. I am looking forward to other's comments because of course I want to add to my TBR (ha! I love Litsy for this reason - among others). 5mo
dabbe A book I like to revisit every summer because it leads me to try yet another classic is BEOWULF ON THE BEACH by Jack Murnighan. It gives a what-to-read/what-to-skip for 50 classics. I find it helpful and humorous. 🤩 5mo
AllDebooks @Bookwormjillk lol, certainly a fast paced read guaranteed 🤣 5mo
AllDebooks @mcctrish Ooh Scotland is beautiful 😍 I love a good chunkster on hols x 5mo
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie I have never read Judy Blume 🫣 5mo
AllDebooks @dabbe lol, that looks great 🤣 5mo
AllDebooks I really enjoyed Taylor Jenkins Reid last year. I usually choose fast-paced thrillers as a holiday read. 📚 I always take my Kindle too, for backup. 😅 5mo
TheBookHippie @AllDebooks 😳😳😳😳 5mo
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie Sorry, don't hate me. Just never gotten around to her books 🫣😅 5mo
TheBookHippie @AllDebooks 🙂🙃 her books saved my life I‘m a bit partial to her. 5mo
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie ❤️glad you could find comfort. X I will definitely read 5mo
Catsandbooks Any romance or something light and joyful. Anything by Tessa Bailey 🩷 5mo
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm I don‘t have a specific book. Mass market paperbacks are something I associate with going outside to read. I used to take horror anthologies with me to read to my cousins around summer bonfires when we went to visit. 5mo
tdrosebud I don't have anything specific that I read, but for me, a good summer read is one that is easy to carry with me wherever and is an easy read. 5mo
