I have questions about some elements, and never got fully invested in the main character's plight. pickI like this author but this wasn‘t my favorite book of hers. It‘s a world of magic and they use their magic to steal stuff and complete heists. When Danielle was a teenager, she turned her mother into the FBI and ran away. She‘s been doing odd jobs helping people and earning money. Now she‘s called back to her home to do 1 last heist. She has to get her crew together to pull it off.
This was a charming YA heist of a group of all asexual friends!
While there are a lot of things I like about Las Vegas, the actual casinos are pretty low on the list. 🤣

so-soI'm a sucker for a good heist novel but the heisty bits were the best part of this. As a romance it was F L A T no chemistry between the three leads at all. It was a pretty light and easy read as I read it all in one sitting. Also the dog does not get harmed if that is important to you (as it is to me).
so-soThis magically infused heist story with a romance makes for a light and entertaining read. Dani returns to Kentucky a decade after helping get her mom arrested. But when her mysterious ex-partner approaches with a job and dangles all of her dreams in front of her, she can‘t refuse and dives back in with her old crew. Sunflower the border collie is quite a scene-stealer, but ultimately the uneven pacing and predictable plot left me wanting more.
I bought the tagged book at Book Culture LIC in NY and they had the cutest display for V Day! They had so many of these author puns taped to the shelves, but these were my favorites :)
pickThis is the funniest book I‘ve read since The Guncle. An all asexual online friend group meets in Las Vegas to find incriminating evidence of a casino owner. I mean, that‘s a great concept. The writing was a little difficult- I just didn‘t jive with it- but the jokes, characters, and plot were awesome. I wanted a little more heist, given it was the subtitle to this book, but it definitely delivered on everything else. 5⭐️
