so-soOne member of my book club said 'the racism got in the way of the plot', a comment which made me somewhat uncomfortable. It was a well written, human book and has launched me into somewhat of an obsession with Baldwin. My emotions are over the place after reading this novel! #JamesBaldwin leaves me heartbroken & in awe every time I finish one of his books. This story of young love in the face of injustice has left me speechless. How is it that I‘m reading a book from 1974 & it feels like 2018! 44 years later, #IfBealeStreetCouldTalk is relevant & timely. Baldwin truly had his pulse on what was wrong (and still is) with America. #spinesvines
