Pickpick

I‘ve read all of these books and I really have no idea what‘s going on but I really enjoy the audiobooks. They‘re super fun. This was a #LitsyAwards2021 winner for YA fantasy/sci-fi

slategreyskies I haven‘t read any of these! Yay for a new reading list!! :) 2y

Jenniebooks hello. Thank you for all the likes on my Litsy. Do you have an opinion on states banning books because they could insult or offend “conservative” population? Thank you 2y
LibrarianRyan @Jenniebooks as a librarian I do not believe in book banning for anyone. We are here for equal access for everyone. If parents don‘t want their kids to read certain books, that is their right. I just wish more would read them themselves, and make their own opinions, rather than jumping on someone else band wagon. And when it comes to kids in schools, same thing. Some of my fav books I had to read in class, and am thankful for the breadth of ⬇️ 2y
LibrarianRyan @Jenniebooks experience I lived through those books. Most books being pulled from libraries and schools now, I would be fighting to keep. I make it a point to read as many of the “banned books” as possible. Of the newest set the only one I haven‘t read is Hey Kiddo. It‘s on my desk at work. 2y
SolaRaynor Whoo hoo!! So glad I joined this community and got to vote, looking forward to next year's contest :) 2y
Jenniebooks Can someone work at a library without being one or without going to school for it?Are you always awestruck at the library? Thank you for the response. 2y
LibrarianRyan @Jenniebooks yes and no. Depends on what you want to do, where you live, and how much money you want to make. In small town like around here usually the degreased or “professional” librarian is the director. And being director is the only way to make decent money. Most other positions are min wage or few hours. However if you live in a city making better money is easier and there is more variety in the jobs. It also depends on state. Everything 2y
LibrarianRyan @Jenniebooks is so up in the air right now. To be a school librarian you normally have to have a teachers certification. Sometimes they won‘t care about the MLIS. I am always wowed by libraries. Heck sometimes I still get jitters in my own library. We called down an “old” bible not reading it came out of the “special” room. We had to fix the record, but since it was out…. It was lovely. Even though I am not religious when I am really down 2y
LibrarianRyan @Jenniebooks I go up to the special room and admire the Gutenberg. We used to have it on display in the old building (30 yrs ago and before my time)) but it takes a special case and we have never replaced that case and the expense is just not currently allocatable. 2y
Jenniebooks Thank you for defending democracy in your own way. 2y

This is it. This is what you have all been waiting for.

Unusual, this book only one in this category. Usually the Best Fiction Winner, will pop up elsewhere on the list.

But not this Time. Congrats T. J. Clune!

I really need to get to reading this.

SerenaR This book got its own aisle table at my B&N and I almost picked it up... but didn't. Now I gotta go back and get it! (oh darn 🙃😉) 2y
TracyReadsBooks I really, really wanted to like this book as much as The House in the Cerulean Sea and I just didn‘t. Still an entertaining book and I‘m not surprised to see it win. Klune is an automatic buy for me! 2y

This book came from way behind to win. It barely made round two, but it took the top spot for Mystery in the #LitsyAwards2021

Any one else think Litsy is working weird. This didn't come up as in Litsy yet, but I know that is NOT true.

It's our Winner for best YA of 2021. #LitsyAwards2021
