Good Girl, Bad Girl: A Novel | Michael Robotham

The last book for my #LizpixiesLongWeekend #readathon (technically over but he‘s in bed snoring so I‘m still reading😴)is the latest thriller from this aussie author. We have a bit of talent out in the world the last few years, especially in the genres of crime/mystery/thriller. This is my first, so far it‘s really good. Two young girls, one found in a secret room with no past, another the golden girl, murdered in a park. What connects them?

Pickpick

Bk2 of #LizpixiesLongWeekend #readathon is finished. I absolutely loved this book! It‘s a small package full of voodoo, lost gods, swamp water, shrimp bakes, chicory & jazz music. And a whole lotta attitude. It‘s hard to put the whole story into a small package but it‘s like holding a magical version of The Big Easy in your hand. Highly recommended.🎷🎺🥁

Coming into the final hours of #LizpixiesLongWeekend #readathon and I haven‘t managed as much as I‘d hoped. I started & finished one book but I‘m only halfway through the audiobook of The Killing Dance-Laurell.K.Hamilton, and halfway through this magical realism novel by Bryan Camp. Though it is a bit of a chunkster at almost 500pgs. It‘s also fascinating, especially if The Big Easy & voodoo are things you love to read about.

I ended up starting this interesting book. Jude Dubuisson is a street magician in post Katrina New Orleans but he‘s more than he appears. He has a gift for finding lost things, one passed down from a father he never knew. But so many things are missing from the storm his gift becomes a curse and he tries to hide in the cracks of his former life. Until the Fortune God is found murdered. #LizpixiesLongWeekend #readathon

So, today was a bust in my #LizpixiesLongWeekend #readathon I was up till 6am reading, then woke up with a eye strain headache & spent hours with a cloth on my eyes & painkillers, then my youngest came over for dinner with gelato! So no reading, but I did get three flavours(coconut&lychee, coffee&saltedcaramel, dulcedeleche)of gelato & Oporto. She‘s just left so I‘m settling back into bed but can‘t decide which book to read next. A or B?🤷🏻‍♀️

rockpools Hope you‘re feeling better today. Can‘t comment on the books, too busy focusing on the gelato 🍧😋 5y
Librariana My vote would be for A 😊 5y

Bk1 of my #LizpixiesLongWeekend #readathon is done. This has never been one of my favourites, it is one of her best written, but it introduces Raina & Gabriel who is love to grab through the page and punch. I‘ll give Laurell props for being able to write such hateful characters, Raina is right up there with both Lena & Angie from Karin Slaughters books. All three are like the Mean Girls of fiction. At least this is before the series goes downhill.

First up for my #LizpixiesLongWeekend #readathon is Bk4 in Hamiltons Anita Blake series. This book introduces the various shapeshifter communities in St Louis, werewolf‘s, wereleopards, swans & rats etc. Someone is abducting lycanthropes, after 8 go missing, they come to Anita to look into the disappearances. But not everyone wants her to succeed. It also introduces Gretchen, Jean-Claudes vampire stalker. A nutcase who wants Anita dead.

The hubby has gone to Bathurst to help out our brother-in-law for the weekend & won‘t be back til Monday night. So I‘m having a #LizpixiesLongWeekend #readathon all by my little lonesome. I have two full tote bags of library books & a ridiculously large #MountTBR in my library, so I‘m planning on reading my way through as many as I can.And snacking. Of course I have to have snacks.Like icecream & mangoes.Plus copious amounts of tea. Who‘s with me?

Balibee146 That looks awesome have a blast....I'm a bit envious (well full of envy actually lol).... I love my family but time alone and quiet is rarer than hens teeth ❤️❤️💖 5y
Lizpixie @Balibee146 we‘ve recently become empty nesters, but even before that with only one YA child at home for years it was quiet. Plus I‘m insomniac so nighttime is when I‘m usually awake. I miss my kids but being able to read uninterrupted is amazing. And having the hubby not coming in & disturbing me as well this weekend, I‘m in heaven! I love the man dearly, but my god does he have a talent for wanting to talk right when my books on fire!🗣🤦🏻‍♀️ 5y
CarolynM Enjoy! 5y
