This is a good read with well-known characters. It bridges the gap between A Court of Wings & Ruin and the next ACOTAR instalment. It is a quick read and untaxing. There isn't any action, more of a character analysis and plot building novella. I just still can't warm to Nesta but I don't think you are meant to.

Madamereginald Your review and another are winning me over on this book. I finished it a couple of days ago still undecided if I liked it. Sure, I liked the character development. And, yes, I liked reading about what happened after the previous book...but I was missing the riveting action found in her other books. I suppose this book was necessary...lol..I am definitely looking forward to the next installment! (edited) 7y

JaneyWaneyB @Madamereginald I wanted a bit of action too, I mean she got the smut in 😉😃 lol when I read the acknowledgement at the end I did wonder if the book was meant to be longer but can understand with all that going on personally why it's a novella. Bring on the next instalment 😊 7y

TheBookKeepers Nesta is hard for me to get, too. I‘m hoping we get more of her depth in the next story, which I think is what is being set up... I enjoyed the taste of being back in the night Court and it helps fend the cravings I guess, but I whole heartedly agree that the action was missed! 7y

A little bit slow off the mark but once it got going this was a great book. I have always loved Pullman's Oxford and the people he shapes. This is an interesting start to The Book Of Dust trilogy and I can't wait for the next instalment with a bit more Lord Asriel please.
