After reading our two repeat Christmas books with time to spare (first time!), we were able to try a new one. Cute read for kids. They all liked it and asked that we add it to the “tradition” list. We‘ll definitely at least read the sequel next year too. #MordecaiReads #morebookslessbullshit2019

Itchyfeetreader I totally meant to read the sequel this past Christmas 5y

One of my few Christmas traditions. Complaints from the kids at first, but now the eldest has requested “more books by that guy with the ghosts” 🙌🏻 (“that I can do!” says the same mom who wrote her senior paper on Dickens). #MordecaiReads #morebookslessbullshit2019

#MordecaiReads His biggest complaint was the the color of the crab didn‘t match the color of the crab in the book. 🤔 He‘s also pretty miffed he has to wait so long for the next book. #morebookslessbulkshit2019

The now 6-year-old, missed some of the “humor” and pop culture references (better for 8+ maybe), and I‘m sure I‘m butchering most of the names, but it‘s a fun read that gives a peek into Indian mythology. #MordecaiReads #morebookslessbullshit2019

This was a cute, fun read, with a small plot twist that actually got me. Picked this up cause the cover art caught my eye. (Not going to lie, I will totally judge a book by its cover, especially a kids book—I love good illustrations!) #MordecaiReads #morebookslessbullshit2019

The Penderwicks in Spring | Jeanne Birdsall

I‘m a sap but this book made me cry multiple times. My second favorite so far in the series (I‘ve liked the first best) and the storyline/conflicts were a lot easier for Mor to understand, though still led to good conversations about death, relationships, etc. #MordecaiReads #audiobook

Been waiting to share HP for so long! I think he was confused a bit by so many characters, but still definitely enjoyed it. Waiting a bit for book 2, then might add another book every year? I think that‘s my plan. I wanna share them all with him now, but they get so dark as they progress. #mordecaireads

Mor‘s least favorite. Focused on the middle girls (11-13) growing up and less on the youngest, so a lot of it went over Mor‘s head, nothing inappropriate, he just doesn‘t get crushes and takingnon extra responsibility. But he still loves the Penderwicks (which always baffles me a bit since it‘s not at all like his usual science/fantasy type pics). #mordecaireads
