This was a very comprehensive bio. I never really saw this series but he seems to have been a very nice man who cared about children. Great narration!

Remembering Fred Rogers on the twentieth anniversary of his passing. He was such an integral part of my childhood - one of my first teachers. It‘s because of public television like Mister Rogers‘ Neighborhood, Sesame Street, and Reading Rainbow that I became a voracious reader.

Thank you, Mister Rogers, for creating a space safe for children to learn and imagine. It‘s you we like.

CBee My mom always said I learned to read from Sesame Street. And will always be thankful to and for Mr. Rogers ♥️♥️ 13mo
AnnR ♥️🤗 As a TV personality/role model for children, his gentle demeanor and kindness are greatly missed. There is no substitute. 13mo

dabbe Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, and [Hey, you guuuuuuyyyyyssss] The Electric Company ... a Gen X-ers childhood. Oh, and don't forget Schoolhouse Rock! #childhoodmemories ❣️ 13mo
ElizaMarie I absolutely love Mr. Rogers. I really felt we (or I) needed him at the start of the pandemic. He made everyone feels so calm and just heard. The movies about him are total tear jerkers! I just love love love him (and Grover and Reading Rainbow). 13mo

I loved Mr. Rogers growing up, but this was too slow and uneventful for me. He was a rich, shy child and I felt that could have been summed up in a chapter as opposed to dragging it out.

Does it count if you‘re a 43-year old child who celebrated with a B&N gift card spree, a few episodes of Gilmore Girls, and a bowl of hot lentil soup on a cold winter‘s day?

sprainedbrain Yes. Yes that counts! 2y

My book club picked this book for November (still catching up on my reviews...), and I really enjoyed discovering Fred Rogers, his childhood, his vision for TV programs intended for children, and how his concept evolved over time. Some people feel like there wasn't much details in this book about his private life, but I felt it was enough, I didn't need to know more personal things.

An in depth look at one of the most revered public figures of our time, this book did not disappoint! I learned so many things about how Mister Rogers developed his child psychology approach to television, became a Presbyterian minister, remained 143lbs for most of his adult life! 😁 If you have fond memories of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, this is not to be missed! #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks Oh this sounds so interesting!!! 3y
IamIamIam @TheAromaofBooks I was really blown away at how well thought out his whole career was, not just his tv show! 3y
TheAromaofBooks I really like it when biographies tell the story of a person's life instead of just trying to dig up “dirt“ on them. 3y
IamIamIam @TheAromaofBooks The best thing about this book is that there's so little dirt to find! Lol, his sons were a bit rambunctious as teens and that was the most shocking thing in the book! 3y
