Read some good books in March - but The Instrumentalist by Harriet Constable takes top spot for the month. I knew nothing about this book as it was a gift so definitely a nice surprise!

Note: Not my template - off Pinterest.

While probably more fiction than historical fiction, this book captured me. A story about Anna Maria della Pieta and her journey with music. There is not much known about her but I think the author did well in writing a story around what is known about her. It is mainly a story about her and how she sees, feels and senses her music. The descriptions of colours blended with music are inspiring.

I answered a guided journal prompt that says,” What is a song that always makes you feel a certain way and what emotion does it evoke?”. I filled up 3 pages in my journal answering this prompt but these are some of my answers. I enjoyed this prompt when I did it last week for the first time.

Considering how long I had this book on my digital shelf, I feel it was ok.
Admitting it's ok is a hard thing to say considering how the book starts which has a very emotional and hard scene to read which can be triggering to some as it involves a tragic car accident but it feels like the rest of the book is at odds and anticlimactic not to mention has more flashbacks then present tense moments so it can feel abrupt at different times.

Appropriately, I read this when commuting on the underground: my Trans-London Express, if you will. I love Kraftwerk…Computer World, what an album. This is a look at the context of the band‘s beginnings as a post-war generation‘s attempt to rebuild reputation and creativity after its destruction by the Nazis and simultaneously crafting a musical/artistic identity (A Wagnerian Gesamtkunstwerk) that was distinctly not American influenced pop/rock.

This was an emotional story of a music loving family who were involved in a horrific accident. In the literal spur of the moment life changes drastically for Mia. Mia is 17 years old with exciting possibilities for life. Heart wrenching and tragic and still full of love. 4/5⭐️
