This author is sort of all over the place in her genre. If you're ok with that (I am for sure) and enjoy a surprise definitely give this a go.

Aphrodite is born from the sea, literally washed onto the shore. Wandering with no clue where she is or who she is, Aphrodite can sense when humans mean her harm, but she eventually meets a kind man who tends an orchard & who gives her a place to stay & food without asking anything in return. When the orchard is destroyed by giants, Aphrodite meets Ares, god of war, & they travel to Olympus together. (continued)

I'm not doing so well in my #GoodReads #DustyBookshelfChallenge this year.
May's books are The Hitchcock Hotel and The Bachelorette Party, both are #netgalley books I've been sitting on for a little while.
I'm always hoping for some crossover with my #bookspin picks.
This is my first book in this series. There was some stuff I think I missed that can't up on earlier books but not enough to affect my understanding of what was going on.
I thought the premise was interesting but was a little let down by the execution. It was almost too much for such a short book.
It was quick and easy with a fluffy winter feeling. Would definitely recommend as a winter/holiday cosy that isn't too serious.
I don‘t even know why I requested this from #netgalley as I expected to hate it, but I really liked it!
This is a modern re-telling of Gatsby that flips genders and takes place under the glare of social media. I enjoyed all the flips and thought the links to the original book were rather clever.
It reminded me a bit of Idol by Louise O‘Neill (as well as the original Gatsby of course! 🤦♀️) so if you liked that, you‘ll like this also.
A bubble gum feel-good story, very addicting. I for my part could have done without the point of view of Kimberley, and just I loathed Charlie, but it was a fun read overall. While a few actions during the middle part seemed very convenient, and I would have liked an even nastier payback for the main b**ch character, the ending was really on point. A fast fun read.
Thank you, #NetGalley & #HarperCollins, for ARC in exchange for an honest review!
An entertaining thrill ride from the start, this was an enjoyable read. Sun Trap follows a Hollywood movie crew to the Abu Dhabi desert, where the filmmaking gets deadly. This is one of the books with constant action. I was invested in the story although I did not feel connected to the characters at all. Especially after the half way mark there was twist after twist after twist. Also, is this not one of the most gorgeous covers you've ever seen?
4.5/5
Melissa recounts her own experience with isolation as a mom and the strategies both she, and others she knows, to build more connection. She acknowledges both how hard it is for moms to do this work as well as how necessary it is. I thought there were a lot of good ideas for slowly beginning to reduce isolation and build connection, and she acknowledges that it is hard work.
