Peter, honey, I've read the previous five books in this series, it is TOTALLY fair! 🤦🏼♂️

When the levels of shallow pretence and wasteful spending are high, you need another word for objet d'art. 😏
Ouch. Architectural critique and esoteric description in one.
Okay I‘m really enjoying this series… but this Leslie character is something else smh I mean come on already… even though it‘s a great read talk about slippery characters … now I just have to finish the series because I have to know ..
This was definitely a great read and an interesting take on the fae
Just finished this loved the characters and how their developing great read
Bonkers in the best way. The surprise beastie is too good to spoil. I always want more Nightingale, but getting more Beverley in this book was a decent trade off. The hints via phone communication of what Lesley's up to definitely increase my need to read the next in the series. 😉
The audio books remain superb.
I don't know if this change met with favour from other readers, but the fact that this book in the series dialed down the drama and interpersonal tension and went for more of an ensemble cast police procedural (with trademark fantastical elements, quality banter and gross moments, of course) really worked for me. Bonus points for Terry Pratchett references, I see now why the author ended up introducing an edition of Guards! Guards! 😉
I think this is the first time I've ever recommended the audio book as the best way to consume a novel. While I enjoyed the first in the series that way out for conveniences this second one confirmed: the narrator for this series is superlative, and as I'm not from London, the accent is a shortcut to steeping me in the geography, culture and history the author/main character regularly refers to. 1/?
