Cuilin Thanks for the link. I did not expect Ovid to be on the list. 😣 3w
lil1inblue @Cuilin So sad. 😥 3w

lil1inblue @Cuilin The angry-sad-disappointed cycle is exhausting. 🫂 3w
dabbe @lil1inblue Ovid? Shakespeare? Chaucer? WTF? @Cuilin: your comment reminds me of a PEANUTS comic strip where Linus says: “I love humankind. It's people I can't stand!“ Such truth in that. 🧡💜💛 3w

A Light in the Attic | Shel Silverstein

This poem is one of the reasons that this book was often banned in the 90s. Sigh.

#poemadayish #poetrypals #bannedbooksweek #letfreedomread @dabbe @cuilin

Deblovestoread Brought a smile to my face. I‘d rather dry the dishes than go to the store every time. 😂 3w
dabbe Beyond my comprehension that this book would ever be banned. Sigh. L🖤VE the poem! 💛💜🧡 3w
AnnCrystal Seriously?!? A crazy ban!

lil1inblue @Deblovestoread It's such a fun little poem! 😅 3w
lil1inblue @dabbe Right?!?!?! Shel's poetry was one of the things that got me excited about reading and poetry when I was young! 3w

lil1inblue @cuilin @dabbe @anncrystal The link is from the author's blog, where she explains how the poem came about. The last paragraph is interesting: "I consider that empty space at the poem‘s end as merely the beginning. It represents the place where you and I choose either to speak up or be silent on behalf of a free and inclusive society -- ⬇️ 3w
lil1inblue where we choose either to act or do nothing in defense of those who would be punished for merely being and expressing who they are." 3w
AnnCrystal @lil1inblue that's lovely, thank you for sharing this extra bit of info. This gives a whole new dimension to that last line ✊🏼🥲💙. 3w
