Elephants Can Remember | Agatha Christie

This was another entertaining Poirot/Ariadne Oliver pairing. They are trying to figure out the reasoning behind a very old double suicide and must track down people who might remember details about the couple. All the talk and confusion about elephants was very amusing. I love Mrs. Oliver

Ruthiella I love Mrs Oliver too and her eternal frustration with her fictional Finnish detective. 😆 4d
TheSpineView Fantastic! 4d
peanutnine @Ruthiella lol yes! I wonder how much of herself Christie wrote into her character 🤔😂 4d

Finished another audiobook while driving through Iceland. I was thinking that this Christie murder mystery is a very psycological one which I didn‘t expect. Of course I did not see the turn coming.

Ruthiella This is one of my favorites from Christie. 5d
Pruzy This is jumping up on my Agatha Christie reading list! 5d
MariaW @Ruthiella I must admit that it is the most interesting one so far. 3d

I made the mistake of reading Lucy Worsley's biography of Christie before I read this. #spoileralert #oops

Hello to all of Litsy and my first post of 2024! I‘ve been on an Agatha Christie kick this year. What really amazes me is how well the books read to this day. They don‘t feel dated at all!

Of the Hercule Poirot books I have read, this one was one of the better ones! Maybe it‘s because it has people lounging on the beach, but the mystery is not bad either!

I aim to post more often this year!

Let‘s hear your favourite Hercule Poirot novels!

The_Book_Ninja Never read one. Maybe one day…. 3w
Pruzy @The_Book_Ninja I was super hesitant, but was very pleasantly surprised once I started. No regrets! 3w
The_Book_Ninja Can you jump in anywhere? 3w

Pruzy @The_Book_Ninja Easily! This is a series where reading order seems not to matter at all. (Except for maybe Curtain: Poirot‘s last case, which I haven‘t read yet.) 3w
Librarybelle Welcome back! 3w
Pruzy @Librarybelle Thank you! And if you actually remember me, I‘m truly so so honoured 😊 3w
Librarybelle @Pruzy Of course! It‘s always good to see returning Littens! 3w
Pruzy @Librarybelle Aw, you‘ve made my day! 3w
Ruthiella Welcome back! I‘m a huge Christie fan. Evil Under the Sun is definitely a favorite. Also check out the adaptations starring David Suchet. They somewhat modify the plot from time to time but are otherwise quite faithful. 3w
Addison_Reads I just really started reading Christie last year. I'm reading through the Miss Marple series right now. I'm currently on book 5. 3w
Pruzy @Ruthiella I also really liked The Mystery of the Blue Train. The opening sequence was action packed! 3w
Pruzy @Addison_Reads I have a Marple book waiting for me on my shelf, A Pocket Full of Rye 3w
BookmarkTavern Murder on the Orient Express! Or maybe Death on the Nile or Evil Under the Sun! (edited) 2w
kezzlou85 I've been on an Agatha Kick myself recently. My mum collected all the books so enjoying having a re read of them. 2w
Pruzy @kezzlou85 That sounds really fun! (and convenient 😆) 2w
kezzlou85 @Pruzy it's very handy, they're some old editions. Including the original title for And then there were none. 2w
Pruzy @kezzlou85 😬 can‘t read that one in public 2w
kezzlou85 @Pruzy definitely not. Might have to look for another edition for outside reading. 2w
Pruzy @kezzlou85 I‘ve always wanted to try the method of wrapping a book cover in brown packing paper to hide what I‘m reading 😆 2w
kezzlou85 @Pruzy ooh that sounds fun. I saw someone who'd done that on the bus once. It gets you really intrigued as to what they might be reading. 2w
Pruzy @kezzlou85 What could they have been reading?!?!! I need to know 2w
kezzlou85 @Pruzy I know I was the same. I never did find out sadly 😥 2w
Pruzy @kezzlou85 What are the rules about asking people what they are reading in public places 🤔 2w
kezzlou85 @Pruzy I'm not sure. I've chatted to people before but that was when they'd put the book down. I think maybe rude to interrupt their reading I guess. 2w
AlaMich It was a fun movie too. 2w
