Mehso-so

I can never pan a Simon Serrailler mystery, but this one had a few faults that moved me right out of the “pick” zone. DCI Serrailler is one of my absolute favorite male detectives—I told my mother once that if we could bring him to life, I‘d absolutely ask him to marry me (so you see my outright bias)—but in this outing (the 9th), he is a bit self-pitying, with a short temper, and a churlish attitude ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ towards his sister, upon whom he dumps all of the problems and duties of their extended family. Also, the ending left me quite unsatisfied. The requisite justice that readers usually find in mystery/detective novels is just not here. This series is being produced for television as we speak (in UK), and I believe it will play well. I have really enjoyed this series, though, in spite of the shortcomings of this particular book. 6y
gradcat @Cinfhen You‘re hilarious! 😅🤣😂 6y

gradcat @Trish YAAASSSS! Was it really only 99p? That‘s great! I think you‘ll like it, but at that price, I won‘t feel too bad if you don‘t (only about your time spent reading it)! 😂 6y
Andrew65 @gradcat in that case I look forward to getting to it! 👍 (edited) 6y
