I got to meet Emily St. John Mandel last night! She came to my small city (Kenosha, WI) to kick off our Big Read season. My first-ever author signing. She gave a very insightful talk about the book that really enhanced my reading of it. It's not your typical post-apocalyptic novel. Highly recommended. #thebigread #neabigreaduwp18 #neabigread

I just found out this is the choice for this year's The Big Read in my community. Kind of bummed that it's not a classic, and it's not a genre I enjoy, but I am still looking forward to reading it and participating in the activities. I love The Big Read! Does your community do it? It's book club day! My favorite day of the month! I'm in a small classic lit book club. We decided to read True Grit this month to coincide with The Big Read pick for our area. I loved it! The story is very interesting: a 14 yr old girl trying to track down her father's killer in Indian territory in the 1870s. But I absolutely loved Mattie! She is a very unique main character. She constantly surprised me and cracked me up. #thebigread #bookclub

Started this today. The Big Read kicks off here tomorrow. I'm also reading this for my book club meeting on Sunday. Only 48 pages in, and already loving Mattie Ross! Excited about this one. #thebigread
