Go, Otto, Go! | David Milgrim

Pickpick

A very cute modern fantasy is a short and easy book for any elementary school classroom. Go Otto Go has very few words on each page but contains many pictures which will be an any students attention.

J.Cash I would suggest RA, CR, or SR but this book can also be done in IR and PR. A great way to encorperate an English learner is to translate since there are so few words also giving english students a chance to hear another language. 7y

Sharks is a NF( non fiction) book written by Anne Schreiber with fun facts about different kinds of sharks. I would love to include this book in my class as a IR (independent reading) for the students. There are so many things students can learn just from reading this small book about sharks. A lesson I would include with this is https://www.nationalgeographic.org/activity/shark-teeth/. This website provides the students with the opportunity to ⬇️

JessicaC match the different kinds of sharks to the different types of teeth they have. This would be put into effect with UDL 6.3, facilitate managing information and resources. Students would really enjoy learning science with a book that has so many visuals along with a matching game based off the teeth of the sharks! #UCFLAE3413SP18 7y
ambera I wasn't a fan of how they made the shark look "scary" on the cover because it gives people the wrong idea and causes unnecessary fear, however, once I looked at the activity it made a little more sense since The activity is about the shark's teeth. 7y

Pickpick

Creepy Pair of Underwear written by Aaron Reynolds illustrated by Peter Brown which is a RF story. Just like Creepy Carrots, Jasper also find himself in a sticky situation with a pair of "creepy underwear". Will he keep the underwear or will he throw them away? #UCFLAE3413SP18

BriannaR I would use this story for RA, AS, IR, and DR. This is a link that shows future teacher how they can use the book with comprehension and to make connections within the classroom https://deannajump.com/creepy-underwear-lesson-plans/. UDL Strategy 3.2 and ESOL Strategies 6, 22, and 15 7y

This is a great fiction book. This book is filled with emotions. It is about a girl named Melody who has cerebral palsy. She is a very smart girl but since she is in a wheel chair people do not believe she is. This book is great for LC. The books has won the Corertta Scott King award. LC help with Ell strategy number 2 also UDL 1.2. #UCFLAE3413SP18

Noelle5 Technology such as YouTube videos explaining in depth what Cerebral Palsy is. EL: 23 review vocab ahead of time especially medical terms and the disability melody has because that needs to be understood. Some teaching strategies are RA, LC, IR, SR, PR. https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/blog-posts/kriscia-cabral/teaching-out-my-mi... scholastic provides a great lesson plan! 7y
DrSpalding You can‘t go wrong with Scholastic nor can you go wrong with Draper‘s powerful books. As you mentioned, this book can be used in many ways however I think literature circles and read aloud are best. (edited) 7y
BriannaR This story reminds me of Wonder. I would definitely use this in my future classroom! 7y
ambera I heard from other classmates that this was an amazing book so I will definitely have to add it to my summer reading list! 7y
