This is a great book that is also a cartoon. In almost every classroom I have gone into I have seen at least one Olivia book. This book is F. I would use this book in my classroom as a RA. (Esol2) (udl 3.2). https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=90e16I4AQJc students can watch a episode of the cartoon and read the book and find the similarities and differences #UCFLAE3414SP18

This book is about a little boy who is never up to no good. He is always getting into things he shouldn't be. This is a great F book to RA to your students. This book has won the Caldecott award. I would use esol strategy 2 with this book and udl 3.2. Here is a link to a read aloud https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/unit-plans/teaching-content/charlottes-web-t... #UCFLAE3414SP18

AshleyC My boyfriend yells “I love this book” haha, this is a classic. Would love to include this into my classroom library or encourage it for a book boost :) great post. 6y
Cruzdia1 I love David! When I taught PreK I remember how excited my students would get to see what David was going to do next! 6y

This is a great book that I read when I was younger. This book has a lot of love and compassion in it. This book is a Newberry award winner. This F book is a book I would have my students read in LC. ESOL students will be able to work with a partner to read this book (esol 2). The UDL strategy that would work best would be (1.1). The students will be able to listen to a read aloud or read it themselves. #UCFLAE3414SP18

AshleyC Loved that website! Can totally introduce my students to this book plus it‘s wonderful activities! Thank you for your post. 6y
AndreaG I‘m ashamed to say I‘ve never read this book. This is definitely on my list of books to read. 6y
Cruzdia1 I think this book is so popular because of those themes in it like compassion and friendship that make it a great choice for elementary aged students! I definitely have great memories of reading this in 5th grade! 6y

This is a good book to use with younger students who are learning how to read. This F book is great to use as a RA in your class. This book will make students want to read. https://study.com/academy/lesson/we-are-in-a-book-lesson-plan.html this link has a great lesson you could use with students related to this book. This is NF book about caterpillars becoming butterflies. National Geographic for kids is a great series to teach kids about different subjects. This is a great RA to read to students when they are learning about metamorphosis. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/butterflies/activities/ this website has good activities you could use with your students to teach them about metamorphosis. Students could also read this book with one another.

Fiona_i Esol strategy 2 have student work in small groups with one another. (UDL 3.2) #UCFLAE3414SP18 6y
juliette_kathleen I love this book! My mom does a beautiful bulletin board of the process of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly each September. She also gets a few caterpillars as ‘class pets‘ to allow the kids to see this transformation in real life. She then ties it all together with a trip to a butterfly farm. This would all be dependent on where you live (she‘s in upstate Ny) but it‘s a pretty cool idea. Just food for thought!! :) 6y
Cruzdia1 National Geographic books are great for teaching scientific concepts. Something that I love about National Geographic is that they have a wide variety of topics from everything about space to parts of an insect. 6y

I would read this book at the begging or end of the day. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=75NQK-Sm1YY this is a read aloud to the book. (Esol 3) (UDl 2.5) #UCFLAE3414SP18

The True Story of the 3 Little pigs is the story about the three little pigs but with a twist to it. This is a great book to RA with your students. This TL is a great story to have children compare and contrast with other stories about the 3 little pigs. (Udl 1.1) students can work together and see he differences between the stories. (Esol 2) this is a link to a different telling of the three little pigs https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-gdcgnSrUvU

paulettevp I have yet to pick up this book. I used to read anything about the three little pigs. I would definitely use it as a RA as well. I think we should always try to have various versions of those TL books. 6y

This is a great book about a girl and her dog. Opal is a preachers daughter who finds a dog and names him Winn-Dixie. I remember reading this in my fifth grade class and falling in love with the book. This book is RF and would be great to use in LC. This book also won the Newberry award. You could read the book with your students and then watch the movie. #UCFLAE3414SP18

Fiona_i This website https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Browse/Search:because%20of%20winn%20dixie%20... has great worksheets you could do with comparing and contrasting the movie. That will help esol students get a visual (esol 5) (UDl 2.5) 6y
juliette_kathleen This is one of the best books I‘ve ever read. This was a read aloud for me in third grade and I still haven‘t forgotten the story. We too watched the movie and compared and contrast. I think seeing the movie after really solidified the story for me! 6y

juliette_kathleen This book was so moving. I didn‘t tear up just reading it, but when I went to explain it to my boyfriend I couldn‘t do it justice so I read a few of the quotes that really stuck with me and we both teared up! My hope is to pull some emotions from my students with this text. One of the huge reasons I want to be a teacher is to help teach kids empathy love and care!! Amazing book for this! 6y

The Junie B Jones series is a great series to read in the classroom. I remember reading all of these books when I was younger. Each book has a cute meaning. This one specifically she thinks she is a hairdresser and cuts her own hair. I think this is a great ir for students. Something they can enjoy and read. This book is Rf. Esol students could use strategy 4 they will have background knowledge. These books are very relatable to students.

Wonder is a great book for children to read. It is about a little boy who looks different due to a disease he was born with. I think this book is a great book for students to read in literature circles. The genre is realistic fiction. The book won the award Booklist Editors Choice: Book for youth. #UCFLAE3414SP18

Fiona_i Teachers could show students the trailer of the movie before they read the book to give students a visual. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ngiK1gQKgK8. Esol strategy 2 would work for this book when students read the book on there own and then discuss it in there LC groups. Udl principal 1.3 works because students will watch the trailer before reading the book 6y

This is a book about a son and a mother. The mother sings a song to her son every night when her son falls asleep. Until she grows old and then the son sings to her. This book is a great book to read to students during Valentine's Day. This book teaches students about love and compassion. UDL strategy 3.1 works for this book along with Ell strategy 7. This is a great RA. This book has won Parents Choice gold award. #UCFLAE3414SP18

NicoleCumbo I used to read this book when I was younger. I think this is perfect for children because of the repetition in the story and for the message that it portrays. Thanks for the post! 😊 6y

This is a great book to do a RA with your students. This book has actual size pictures of real animal parts. This book has the measurements of all the animal parts in the book. UDL strategy 3.3 could be used along with Ell strategy number 17. Students will be able to see the size with the measurements right next to the picture. #UCFLAE3414SP18

KaitlynN I love this book! I think it‘s such a cool concept to show animals at actual size in a way that kids can interact with it. I mean I wouldn‘t want a 3rd grader THAT close to a great white shark! 6y
DrSpalding Make sure you include a resource. Your writing style is enticing. Be sure to align EL strategies and UDL principles 6y

This is a great fiction book. This book is filled with emotions. It is about a girl named Melody who has cerebral palsy. She is a very smart girl but since she is in a wheel chair people do not believe she is. This book is great for LC. The books has won the Corertta Scott King award. LC help with Ell strategy number 2 also UDL 1.2. #UCFLAE3413SP18

Noelle5 Technology such as YouTube videos explaining in depth what Cerebral Palsy is. EL: 23 review vocab ahead of time especially medical terms and the disability melody has because that needs to be understood. Some teaching strategies are RA, LC, IR, SR, PR. https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/blog-posts/kriscia-cabral/teaching-out-my-mi... scholastic provides a great lesson plan! 6y
DrSpalding You can‘t go wrong with Scholastic nor can you go wrong with Draper‘s powerful books. As you mentioned, this book can be used in many ways however I think literature circles and read aloud are best. (edited) 6y

This is a good fiction book to use with first or second grade when you talk about rhyming. This is a cute book about a family who fishes the see looking for the fish with the deep see smile. They catch many fish before finding the fish with the deep see smile. The author is the dsame author who wrote Goodnight Moon. Genre is animal fantasy

This fiction book could be used in a kindergarten- third grade classroom. The book is about a French bulldog and a poodle who learn that family is about love and not looks. This book is great to show students that every family does things different and that that's ok. I really enjoyed this cute picture book and will use it in my class room one day. The book has been nominated for 28 awards. #UCFLAE3414SP18

Fiona_i Students can do a compare and contrast chart for the two families https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Kelly-DiPucchios-Gaston-Compare-and-.... The students will be using UDL 3.4 and 3.2. This will help with El strategy 7. They will have the differences of the two families written down on a ven-diagram 6y
