This is a blackout poem I created from one of my favorite bildungsromans, A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN. Using Betty Smith's words, I “blacked“ out a bunch of words from a page in the novel to create a unique poem that still held true to the theme of the book. I hope you like it. 🌳
