🐝 Not book related but we found this little guy on our walk today at deaths door . A bit of sugar water and a rest he was ready to set off on his journey again 🐝
It‘s fascinating how long their little tongues are 🥰

How Do Bees Make Honey? | Anna Claybourne, Lindy Dark
post image

We discovered a wonderful new place full of honey goodness (including books and crafts). #BeesofLitsy

hermyknee Oooo I tried that at the Sarasota Farmers Market! So good! 5y
Princess-Kingofkings Oh my goodness, I grew up in Bradenton. 5y
Factaddict73 My Dtr-in-law had bees and did bee removal ( from sheds, inside walls of houses, etc) in Ft Lauderdale. I have learned a LOT about bees from her! ( like: is honey bee spit or bee vomit? Answer: neither... look it up and be impressed!) She has had to stop because the place she had her hives near Ft Pierce was sold— the owner went into assisted living. She was so very upset, about him and the bees, both! .....Never buy filtered or pasteurized honey! 5y

I present to you a new hive of bees I am now calling Hester Prynne because they are industrious workers despite my earlier doubts about them. If you don't keep bees, what they're doing here is building comb on the divider wall of a top bar hive, which is a no-no. But, you gotta give them props for being so diligent.

I have another hive named Antigone, and with a friend I maintain two more hives, Jane Eyre and Prince.

AmandaL That is so cool! 7y
DragonSadhana @AmandaL Thanks! Interested in beekeeping? It's a fascinating hobby with some cool benefits. The only downside is the initial investment. 🐝 7y
Mommamanzi This is so cool!!!! 7y

DragonSadhana Glad you like it! @Mommamanzi 7y
AmandaL @DragonSadhana I am! I used to live in a rural area, where it was common to keep bees, but we moved before I could do more than read about it. Where I live now, neighborhood pesticide use makes it impossible. I love seeing other people's agricultural pursuits though. 😁 7y
JazzFeathers I don't think l'd be able to keep a hive, but l do find bees fascinating. And they are so important for our planet 7y
DragonSadhana @AmandaL Neighborhood pesticides! That is really too bad. I have one neighbor who I am sure sprays their lawn, and I just hope my bees never go there. They don't have any flowering nectar plants anyway (no dandelions in the lawn and the gardens are all manicured shrubs), but I worry nonetheless! 7y
DragonSadhana @JazzFeathers Maybe you can help by planting native nectar plants in your area? Then you'll have your own visiting bees - native bees and the European honeybee. 🌼🌸🐝 7y
