What would happen if a black woman was teleported from the 1970s to a Southern plantation in 1800s America? I love Octavia Butler's work, and this was no exception. It is a really interesting book and does an excellent job portraying the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters. I'd highly recommend this one. Content warnings for racism, slavery, and suicide. #lgbtqauthors #bipocauthors #historicfantasy #history

Jacqueline's memoire in verse is an excellent read and I highly recommend it. Her writing is stunning. You'll absolutely hear that hinge that was thirsty for oil and other vivid descriptions as you read. She covers a range of topics, including familial love, religious spirituality, loss, and being a child during the height of the Civil Rights Movement and end of segregation. #lgbtqauthors #bipocauthors #memoir #nonfiction

George set out to write a memoir about his life so that LGBTQ+ teens and young adults, especially people of color, would have his experience without living the same experiences. He wants to increase LGBTQ+ conversations and visibility for the safety and psychological well-being of queer people and people of color. This is an excellent memoir and I greatly enjoyed it. #bipocauthors #lgbtqauthors #memoir #nonfiction #lgbtq #pocauthors #blackvoices
