Has anyone read this? Is it worth it?

Bookwomble It seeks to reconcile Dick's book DADoES with the film Blade Runner (or, perhaps, the other way around) and was authorized by Dick's estate. It's interesting on its own terms, though I don't think it achieved its aims. I read the next one, Replicant Night, but still have the third, Eye and Talon, tbr. I keep meaning to revisit. 2y
SpaceCowboyBooks @Bookwomble Thanks for the info. I didn't know that there were others. 2y
EJsmama0729 Good to know. I love DADoES, so I will be looking into these as well. 2y

I was hoping this would be a big win, but it ended up just being the perfect example of pretty good, a solid 3.5 stars.

Blade Runner Ash is a pretty good character with a pretty good mystery to solve and a pretty good supporting cast. I would even use that qualifier on the artwork.

I will probably tell myself that I will check out vol. 2 at some point and then forget to do it.

Never read any of the Blade Runner sequels written by K.W. Jeter but came across this today in a charity shop for 50p, so why not! 🤷‍♂️

I liked 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' By Philip K. Dick but I thought the adaptation expanded it into something spectacular, it's just such a cinematic masterpiece! 💫

Anyone read the Blade Runner sequels that were written?

What's your thoughts on the K. Dick story?

Bookwomble The Jeter sequels attempt to reconcile DADoES with Blade Runner. I liked them, though I think Jeter is only partly successful. I read them when published, so some time ago now, and can't give a detailed comment (which is probably a mercy!). 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @Bookwomble Yea, I see they've got mixed reviews but lean towards the negative! 😏 4y

Then you might like to read this book about a monster looking for his creator.

Tamra I feel for the monster. 😢 4y
CrowCAH @Tamra same here. All he wants is a mate ❤️ 4y
Klou Oooo! Interesting, but fitting, choice! 👍 4y

I haven‘t read this one (or seen the Netflix show) but it sounds interesting!

Klou Ooh, good pick! I've seen this on Netflix, haven't watched it yet, but didn't know it was based on a book! 4y

Catherine_Willoughby Ever see Uncanny {2015} (called Android in some regions) ? based on a screenplay by Shahin Chandrasoma. Could be good story for a novel 4y
Zoes_Human I played a game today where you were supposed to describe a movie badly. I picked Blade Runner and described it as: A detective works on a case in the pouring rain while another one makes origami. 4y
EadieB @Zoes_Human I‘ve never seen Blade Runner as I‘m not into science fiction. @Catherine_Willoughby Another suggestion I saw was 4y

Catherine_Willoughby @EadieB I saw 1 episode. A lot of guys are into that show . Like some Science Fiction genre movies/shows. I've seen a french series around controlling love hormones its merge between Big Brother & Black Mirror - it isn't too bad for a medium budget subtitled series. 4y
EadieB @Catherine_Willoughby Science fiction is way above me. I zone out as I never understand the concepts they are showing or talking about. 4y
Klou Great choice!!! Is this the book that the movie with Will Smith is based on? 4y
EadieB @Klou The film stars Will Smith, Bridget Moynahan, Bruce Greenwood, James Cromwell, Chi McBride, and Alan Tudyk. In 2035, highly intelligent robots fill public service positions throughout the world, operating under three rules to keep humans safe. Detective Del Spooner (Smith) investigates the alleged suicide of U.S. Robotics founder Alfred Lanning (Cromwell) and believes that a human-like robot (Tudyk) murdered him. 4y
Klou @EadieB yes that's it!!! Love that movie! 4y
EadieB @Klou Great! 4y
Zoes_Human @EadieB Out of curiosity, what inspired you to do a post featuring images from a science fiction movie and a science fiction book since you aren't into it? 4y
EadieB @Zoes_Human Under the picture you will see that tomorrow will be Day 10 (July 10) of a movie/book challenge set up by @Klou that I am participating in. 4y
Klou @Zoes_Human The challenge is #IfYouLikeThis. Each day of July has a movie and the challenge is to pick a book you think a fan of that movie would enjoy! Feel free to join if you want to. #IYLTMovieFacts has a post about each movie. The movie list can be found at either of the hashtags. 4y
Zoes_Human @Klou Ahhhh! I saw the tag, but I had no frame of reference. You did a pretty good pick for someone who isn't into scifi! I love both of those. I'm impressed!

Thanks for the explanation!

EadieB @Zoes_Human I usually do a lot of research and that helps me to decide. 4y

Saw the new Blade Runner movie this weekend and I have to say I was impressed. I was pretty strongly against the idea of a sequel to such an iconic film, but this one delivered. And it didn't spoil the wonderfully ambiguous ending of the original. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the movie, not the unrelated Blade Runner 2 novel I've tagged in this post.

BarbaraTheBibliophage We watched the original last week, and saw 2049 today. I liked the sequel so much more than the original. But I'll never stop feeling that the original is iconic and amazing. 6y
