From what I gather from this book, mafia and drug runners are endemic to the #CaymanIslands. So I guess a murder of one of them is to be expected. This is an embarrassingly formulaic murder mystery. A chapter is devoted to each suspect identifying a motive. Then a chapter is spent on questioning by one of the mafia‘s “good guys,” ruling each person out. Until one conveniently confesses—so no real detective work has occurred. Not poorly written ⬇️

This was a relatively short read - 5 hours on audio. Hubby is working his way through this author‘s books but I‘ve never read any. I enjoyed this but not sure if I‘d want to read many more.

It was a good palate cleanser though in between all those Booker books!

Frannie is enslaved in Jamaica, then brought to London and “given” to another family. She is eventually accused of murdering the couple. I liked that this showed us her life and both places and the events that led up to the deaths as well as the trial.
