Listened 🎧 to this and watched the film 🎥 last night. Enjoyed both! I honestly can‘t remember if I truly read the book when I was in HS and I don‘t remember if I even saw the movie, but I can now FOR SURE check it off a list ☑️ #Feb2025 Book14

Starting strong with a clear winner for January slipping in just under the wire before the month‘s end. This is a book I already know I‘ll re-read because it‘s full of gorgeous description and characterization. By turns hilarious, poignant, bleak, heartbreaking. #auldlangspine
Here‘s my January stack. This was a very good reading month. My favorite read of the month was This Is Happiness. What a perfect novel; I loved the writing and the way he wove the themes of light and reconciliation throughout.
Now… on to February at last!
Not pictured are audio reads:
🎧 Sense and Sensibility, Austen
🎧 Into the Uncut Grass, Noah
🎧 Ordinary Mysticism, Starr
Sitting by the sea in the sunshine with my bright yellow book, I can imagine spring is coming!
Listened to Heretic on audio while taking walks over the last week often finding myself at a cafe to scribble in my journal & gather my thoughts as much of this hit very close to home coming from a similar background and subsequently leaving the evangelical church when I was in my early thirties. It's a lot to unpack; even a decade later, I still find myself unpacking more and more. I appreciated hearing someone else's experience and perspective.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
This poor girl had to endure so much at a young age. Heartbreaking but well written and intriguing story that will stick with me for awhile.❤️
I have read and re-read this book and can say that it will always be a favorite. My own copy has definitely seen better days but the love I hold for this book is deep. I think everyone should read this book at least once in their lives and then stop to think about the message the author was trying to convey.
The synopsis made it sound much more exciting than it actually is. It felt long and kind of slow.
