I had several 5 star reads for November, including The Talk by Darrin Bell and Escape from St. Hell by Lewis Hancock (both graphic memoirs.) I picked this because it's such a .... me kind of book.

#12booksof2024 My first time reading this author. The writing was excellent. It had some flaws with regard to the mystery plot, but on the whole I enjoyed it. The characters were engaging and vivid, and the setting was immersive - a compelling portrait of 1960s small town Minnesota. Read with my IRL book club.
I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

My 100th, and final, book of 2024.
I enjoyed the evocation of time and place very much, so it's a pick, but truthfully I never quite warmed to either Robert or Dulcie (and was unmoved by Romy's story, possibly because it was told at a further remove). It's a personal thing but I was riled by Robert's horizons being broadened by a toff: as if that world is the real world and all other experience a poor deviation from or distortion of that reality.
Having a hard time deciding who my favorite character was. For now I‘ll go to bed mulling over this amazing road trip story.

A blackout poem I created in complete homage to Betty Smith's A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN.
Book 6 read September 2024
Definitely not the best story, unrealistic in many situations with annoying characters, but for me was entertaining🤷🏽♀️Maybe I was in my dark academia mood😂But not a good story so my pick classification is subjective 🤣
I liked how Sarah ended with her mother and so sad what happened with the person who committed the murder 3⭐️This book has low rating so it will be a so-so or pan for many readers.
