Pickpick

Very different from the last women's fiction that I read, but no less good. Mostly, it's a fun romance centered around books and writing with good characters. But also, there are several subplots that have serious tones and big feelings attached. This made me laugh and it made me cry. Very good escapist fiction that made me forget the world and made me feel big feelings.

Read this for #OWLSmagicalreadathon, for #defenseagainstthedarkarts

LiteraryinLawrence I hadn‘t really considered reading this, but your review makes me think maybe I should! I don‘t typically read romance as a genre. But I did really like The Bookish Life of Nina Hill and The Overdue Life of Amy Byler, and there were romances central to the plot. What do you think? 4y
rjsthumbelina @LiteraryinLititz I think if you have enjoyed those, then you may really like it! The romance is a central plot, but it isn't the only central plot. The sexy scenes don't overwhelm the plot either (there are only really 2). The relationships between all the characters are really well done, and the characters themselves are people I will miss! 4y
LiteraryinLawrence @rjsthumbelina Thanks! I‘m going to go for it! 4y
rjsthumbelina @LiteraryinLititz I'm excited to hear what you think! It's one of my new favorites of this year 4y

Pickpick

I really enjoyed this book. I loved all the characters and the magic/lore of the world. It took some getting used to the way that Maggie Stiefvater tells a story, since she doesn't always explain things and I think I missed something, especially since I read it mostly on #audiobook via #Scribd while driving. #Audiodriving for the win!I will definitely be continuing this series soon. This counted as #defenseagainstthedarkarts for the #OWLSreadathon

Getting closer to the end of this one! It has taken time to adjust to the idea that you're really not supposed to understand things in this book until Stiefvater lets you in on it. I think I will be continuing the series, though. Especially since the whole series on is on #Scribd on #audio! Using this for my #OWLSreadathon #defenseagainstthedarkarts subject!
