Beach Read
Beach Read: the ONLY laugh-out-loud love story youll want to read on holiday | Emily Henry
He doesn't believe in happy endings. She's lost her faith that they exist. But could they find one together? January is a hopeless romantic who likes narrating her life as if she's the heroine in a blockbuster movie. Augustus is a serious literary type who thinks true love is a fairy-tale. January and Augustus are not going to get on. But they actually have more in common than you'd think: They're both broke. They've got crippling writer's block. They need to write bestsellers before the end of the summer. The result? A bet to see who can get their book published first. The catch? They have to swap genres. The risk? In telling each other's stories, their worlds might be changed entirely... Set over one sizzling summer, Beach Read is a witty, feel-good love story for fans of The Flat Share and Our Stop. ______________________________ WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING 'A touching and heartfelt book...I adored going along on Gus and January's journey, and I closed this book with a satisfied sigh' Jasmine Guillory, author of The Proposal 'Original, sparkling bright and layered with feeling...If whipcrack banter and foggy sexual tension is your catnip, you'll adore this book' Sally Thorne, author of The Hating Game 'The witty, charming and swoony novel we always want...I adored it' Julia Whelan, author of My Oxford Year 'Has everything the title promises - a romping plot, family secrets, and the thrill of falling in love...I cannot wait to read what Henry writes next' Amy E. Reichert, author of The Optimist's Guide to Letting Go

4.5⭐️ I really liked this book. I was expecting not to like simply because a lot of readers have given it fairly positive reviews. But I was pleasantly surprised that I did like it. While it was a romance book, it didn‘t read like the ones that I have read. I liked that the main characters were older and didn‘t think of themselves as being perfect. I found it to be a fun read. #2022 #fiction #romance #contemporary #bookreview #bookstagram ⬇️

melissajayne The book was my #doublespin selection for November 2w

Never knew how tense I was until I hit the beach last week and how long that I had been feeling like that. While I will miss the beach and the sun and the warmth and the breezes, I‘m starting to want to get back home. Now back to my book and my drink (Long Island Iced Tea) #beachlife #vacation

I loved every moment of this book, the banter between Gus and January had me smiling along with them along with them.Their humour and wit was so well written.Emily always shows her characters individual journeys in such with endearing and relatable authenticity. A perfect combination of fun loving moments, the evolution of a relationship with some poignant moments thrown in to also tug at our heartstrings. It felt like a hug in bookform. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ok so I like this but the first person writing threw me off a little I‘m normally ok with that but it was just off… or is it me? 😏 I normally don‘t give a so-so either but maybe if I read it again I can change that… we‘ll see

Since I loved Emily Henry‘s last book, I thought I‘d grab another of hers. I do like her style of writing romantic stories. The title tho, it would have been fitting with a backdrop photo at the beach. 🥺 Happy Sunday everyone

I'm nowhere near to finishing another book so I'm calling it for this month. Pretty solid reading month in that I knocked off another Newbery, one of my bookspin backlog, and experimented with YA and a MG graphic novel. For the second month in a row I somehow managed not to read any ebooks which is weird. I think it's a close call between Beach Read and Roller Girl for favorite of the month.
#SeptemberWrapUp

HeyT I'm also dying because apparently last month I was foolishly optimistic thinking I would just be able to give up mood reading. I read ONE book from my list lol. The rest was all about mood. 2mo

This had a lot more depth than I was expecting so I really enjoyed it. I found that January and Gus were complex characters dealing with some stuff but I feel like they helped each other become better versions of themselves which is all I ask for in a romance.

5 stars. Great romance novel, not too cheesy. Great detail of the setting. Fun read

This was my first book for #TrappedOnAnIsland, and I loved it! I didn‘t want to put it down, and I got so many ideas for my own writing from reading this book. Overall, it‘s a feel-good story, but it‘s not all sunshine and fluff. It has heart and depth, and I didn‘t want it to end. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

I needed this palate cleanser after reading Verity, and as the title suggests, it was the perfect book to read while I was sitting on the beach. I was very invested in January (and Gus), and her relationship with her father. I really appreciated the friendship with her best friend, it felt so real!

Ideally, I‘d be reading this ON THE BEACH. But as a capitalist wage slave who lives in a cornfield, the dining room table will do. True confessions: For years, I didn‘t read romances. Then my library needed me to start a romance book club so here we are. Y‘all, THE DIALOGUE AND SITUATIONS ARE FUNNY. And there are poignant moments that ring true as well. finally get why people are reading Emily Henry like crazy, even in a cornfield.

sprainedbrain From a fellow capitalist wage slave living among cornfields, I love this post (and this book). 😂 4mo

I woke up super early this morning (5 am) feeling stressed about work and am upcoming move, so I took that restless energy and used it to finish this book. This was so sweet and a really fun rom-com. The premise was unique, and I liked that the characters had dimension and development outside of their relationship. This was my first Emily Henry and I‘ll definitely read more!

Enjoyed this- my second to read from her. Interesting storyline-kept me reading. My only criticism is that, like with others, it seems the ending is rushed- to get it wrapped up. I felt like there could have been more details in what all transpired in those last months. But that‘s just me- I still recommend the book and was happy with the outcome. Maybe I just didn‘t want it to end??? I will definitely look for more to read from her.

My daughters and I combined some vacation book shopping with apartment hunting for my oldest who is moving out again. She'll be only 90 min. away, and she'll be near her brother, who left just a month ago. And I'll be down to only one child at home now ?. It's so bittersweet to watch them move out and move on. I'm thoroughly excited for them, but still ?. Meanwhile, "beach reads" was our vacation shopping theme ⛱️?
