Ivan stepped into the room. It was heated just as fiercely, but several changes were noticeable:there had appeared a large, old, leather-covered sofa. On it a bed had been made up with white pillows. On the bedding sat Smerdyakov, still wearing his dressing-gown. The table had been drawn up to the sofa…On the table lay a fat book in a yellow cover, but Smerdyakov was not reading it; he seemed to be sitting doing nothing.
