I love the TV show Spiral - it‘s tough, gritty & funny and it gives you such a feel for the tough suburbs of Paris. I didn‘t realise the writer of the TV show ( an ex French police officer) had written loss of books to! The first will be translated into English later this year. Here him talk at Noirwich online festival - tickets are free.

A Bookclub book last year that I didn‘t love - but interested to ‘meet‘ the author and hopefully enjoy some good discussion. Tickets for the online event are free....

Ruthiella I liked it but didn‘t pull all the subtext from it that other readers did. 4y

Lcsmcat My mother used to recite this to us when we were growing up. It may be the first “real” poem I sort of memorized. 4y
TheSpineView I love that poetry can teach. 4y

By Jenny Joseph
Old age is not always welcomed as an exciting #event, but this poet is ready. She wrote this at the age of 29.

#poetrymatters

@TheSpineView

TheSpineView I like the poem. But how can her at 29 really comment on old age until she experiences it? 4y
Eggs 😉 yeah.....when you‘re 29 even someone over 40 seems “old” 4y
rwmg Apparently she died in 2018 aged 85. I wonder if anyone asked her what she thought about the poem in her 70s or 80s 4y

Eggs I wonder if this was the impetus for the Red Hat Society-does it still exist? @rwmg @TheSpineView 4y
TheSpineView @Eggs I don't know if they are still active. Hmmm... 4y
TheSpineView @rwmg I bet her view was different from the other side of the fence. 4y

TheSpineView A lot of double meanings in this one. I will have to noodle on this a bit.🤩 4y
Lcsmcat @TheSpineView I like her imagery. And you can‘t beat the title of the collection! 4y
