Mehso-so

99/150 I'm not much on horror books, so this is probably the closest I'll come to a Halloweenish read. Sadly this isn't very thrilling or scary. Superman is totally out of place in this kind of story, but Batman fits in perfectly. While the story was so-so, the artwork was excellent. I can't think of anyone, aside from the late great Gene Colan, who could have done this kind of story better than Tom Mandrake. I never cared for his superhero work,

RamsFan1963 but when it comes to a story with vampires, werewolves, demons from beyond, ghouls and other monstrosities, his art is perfect. 3 ⭐⭐⭐ 1y

Green Arrow is on the run. The city believes him to be a killer. Percy continues to wow as Oliver's story unfolds.

Percy has a knack for action, plot, and dialogue. Set in Seattle, this new Green Arrow run doesn't try to go too big too fast. It concentrates on Oliver's relationship with his family and love interest, Black Canary.

Nope, not the Necronomicon, just our unfinished wedding album in its teenage goth years. #bookbinding

I decided on a Springback binding for our album, since its heavy covers and durable binding will hold up the years, and I like that it will lie flat enough for people to write on both pages. Still have covers and headbands to go, but I like where it‘s at ☺️

EDIT: more pics later, once it‘s finished. @BookishFeminist made a REALLY cool cover.

Another stellar Green Arrow collection. Oliver faces off against real-world villains, with plenty of moral ambiguity in the mix and some damned good meditations on the contrast between law and justice.

The script and the art jive BEAUTIFULLY, too. No overly wordy captions here; just action-oriented layouts and a boatload of trust in the story and its reader. This is one of the great late 80s comics, on every level. #comics

It's called Windsor Garden, and I figured it was worth taking some time out to lacquer my nails in it while I finish my last FVRL comic.

AmyG Nice color. I love red pedicures. 7y
xicanti @AmyG in person, the colour's a bright orange with just a hint of sparkle. I love it awfully much. 7y

Yep; Green Arrow continues to be my DC thing, despite that blip with the New 52 series. Mike Grell, Ed Hannigan, and Dick Giordano produce an action-packed yet thoughtful comic that sees Oliver face off against all too real villains.

Despite the Mature Content label, the older protagonist, and the subject matter--child torture and homophobic murder--the library has this in the YA section. Dear librarians: not all superhero comics are YA. #comics

xicanti Another note: this is a direct sequel to THE LONGBOW HUNTERS, so you might want to read that first. Most of what Dinah deals with here is rooted in the earlier volume, though there's enough context that you don't absolutely NEED it. 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk Looooooooooved The Longbow Hunters but regretfully haven‘t checked out any more of the Mike Grell run. Have you read any of Kevin Smith‘s run? 7y
xicanti @TobeyTheScavengerMonk Quiver was some of the first post-Silver Age DC I read, way back in the day. I reread it last year and still enjoyed it very much. 7y
