I started reading the tagged book ages ago- after viewing Martin Johnson Hearde‘s hummingbird paintings in the early American Art Gallery at Yale‘s Art museum yesterday,I pulled it out of a stack to begin to read again.

In the 50s today -I am so excited!
pick523 pages. I guess no comments are needed on the book that remarks one of the cruelest episodes of the world's history.

pickI enjoyed these "Portraits in History" written over the years by McCullough and collected into this volume in 1992. Slightly dated, but historical nonetheless. After reading it you feel the importance of history along with the desire for time to stand still as we move forward.
Perhaps my favorite "portrait" was about the photographer David Snowden and the day spent with McCullough riding around Illinois looking for the perfect shot.
