Hoping to finish the tagged book while my hair is processing. I brought a back up too, in case I have extra time I need to fill!

In reading position for the night. Trying to ignore the gunshots and explosions in the background.

Buechersuechtling Oh, I‘m so easily distracted by background noises. And I remember as a teen I could concentrate on my reading and/or homework everywhere. If I even think about reading with TV or radio in the background I freak out. 1d
Kimberlone @Buechersuechtling I can do it pretty well as long as my attention is on the book rather than the tv and the sound isn‘t too loud 1d

#BookNDinner! A new grocery store opened near me recently and their produce selection is on point. I‘ve been really into incorporating baby bok choy in dishes as a result.

I enjoyed the portions about the history of the Hope Diamond and the curse associated with it. But the portions dealing with the injustices to women journalists bogged the story down, especially within the first few chapters of the book. I could not establish an emotional connection with Vera and ended up skimming much of the book, especially in the first half.

Reading and gaming...a typical Saturday. This Eddie Bauer blanket was a Christmas present form my bf‘s mom and it is so warm and cozy! I also love the bear design

TheLibrarian This looks like my typical evenings. 1w

This long ebook on sale today. Potential #readingeurope2020 #ireland

GingerAntics This book has been on my radar for a while. I‘ve never been quite sure of it. I‘m always not so sure because of the whole historical fiction thing. 1w
Crazeedi I've had this on my tbr too, need to read!! I think there might be more than one if I'm remembering correctly??? 1w
Texreader @Crazeedi Yes it seems so. I think it said this is the second book. This author is crazy prolific! 1w

First new read of 2020! I‘ve been in a bit of a book hangover since finishing The Starless Sea since the second half was such a slog to get through. I‘m hoping this historical fiction will be a palate cleanser to get the new year off to a good start. Going to attempt to sneak in a couple chapters before I pass out tonight.

P.S. today is the first day I‘ve been able to go without cold meds all day, so yay for sinus infection recovery!

laurenslibrary Glad you're feeling better! 💜 2w

Many of you are probably aware that Australia has been experiencing unprecedented bushfires and all the chaos that comes with it. On Twitter there is an Authors For Fireys auction, with all funds raised going to support our volunteer firefighters. I‘m running an auction on behalf of a group of authors who have donated 42 signed books (not all pictured). My Twitter is KerriNTurner - head on over if you‘d like to bid and help raise funds. Thanks! xo

Starting off the year with an “eh.” The murder was not really as large a part of the story as the galley copy led me to believe. Beheld is more a fictionalized entry into lesser known colonists in Plymouth - the women and the indentured servants- than mystery or crime novel. I‘d probably have liked it better with different expectations- it‘s a quiet, very interior book.
