Cute, but not a fan of the main character

Well written and at times humorous debut.
But I had too many issues with characters (especially the female protagonist) and the convoluted storyline to recommend it. 2.25/5⭐️ for the writing and humor.

3 ⭐This book is typical of stashing books. I disagree with the author on certain things, but overall the book as an educational sources is fine. A personal bug of mine is every time publishers show a sewing machine, they have a Bernina (one of the most expensive machines on the market).

A collection of mini essays about life in a city, local activism, improv, and charades. It has left me longing for the time to do more improv classes. I did an improv course a few years ago and it was great fun, like being back in drama at school.

Tune in to #BookishImpulsesPodcast anywhere you listen to podcasts to listen to our first episode of #LiteralTuesdays. It‘s a show in which @KennethTolesJr takes a book from our book case and improvs a story of what he thinks the book is about, just by the literal meaning of the title. Listen and let us know what you think.

The title is fitting. They story flows very well between the typical funny teenager issues and the less than funny, heartbreaking reality, having to accept her dad‘s heartbreaking diagnosis. The main character is obsessed with comedy and tries her hand at improv. While she steps into the unknown she also learns that life isn‘t simple as it appears and not everything can be solved with a joke. It‘s a darling YA book.
