Heaven's Design Team 1 | Hebi-Zou, Tsuta Suzuki

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Heaven‘s Design Team: Volume 1” has an interesting premise that I thought I would love, but it fell a little flat for me. I really like the concepts, art, and the characters, however the actual implementation was a touch boring. It‘s definitely a solid read though, and I might read the second volume in the future.

I love how in the opener, Anya has low key been helping them out so much without saying anything or giving anything away so I'm wondering if at any point the adults will figure it out.

Yor is amazing and the fact that we see her in action, continuing from last volume, is fantastic as she gets her continued moment to showcase her skills, when most of the volumes have all been Twilight.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5/5)

Just as I wasn‘t a fan of Nightfall‘s plotting against Yor, I disliked Becky‘s attempted home-wrecking even more. This volume was still lots of fun, and the chapter focusing on Bond was definitely the best part of this book!

I feel like every time I go to sit down and read a book in this series, I end up devouring it all in one sitting. I‘m a big fan of this series so far and can‘t wait to read the next one!

This book follows Arthur Dent, a man from earth, who gets picked up by aliens and goes on an adventure all around the galaxy. The point of the book isn‘t really the plot, though. It‘s more about absurdity and nihilism. I found it really funny, but also kind of depressing. Definitely very British style humor! I feel like what I can take from it is accepting the unknowns and uncontrollable things in life.

The Skin of Our Teeth, by Thornton Wilder (1942)

Premise: In this classic play, humanity is portrayed in microcosm as a conventional, suburban American family.

Review: I‘m often surprised by just how early the pastiche, sense of play, and erasure of the fourth wall that I associate with postmodern literature appears in the canon. Cont.

Mattsbookaday This play, written during the Second World War, is exceedingly weird and surrealist, in a way that is simultaneously brilliant and a bit off-putting. It‘s sad and cynical, but also silly and hopeful. It‘s certainly not for everyone, but it‘s a deserved classic.

Volume 8 had me on the edge of my seat 😬. I can‘t wait to see how the cruise plotline wraps up in the next volume!

The Satsuma Complex | Bob Mortimer

I like Bob Mortimer, but this really wasn‘t for me. I think if I wasn‘t listening on audio I would probably have bailed.

While I often enjoy Bob‘s humour (WILTY and gone fishing etc), in a novel it just didn‘t hit right for me, and every time a squirrel was mentioned I inwardly groaned. However, other people might really enjoy it!

Story wise I found the mystery quite predictable (and I am usually not good at that)
