I'm always impressed when people can write multiple POVs and make all of them distinct! Seeing how all the storylines were going to connect and lead to changes was fascinating, too. Spare but lovely. #contemporaryfiction #indigenouslit

This is the third installment of the Cash Blackbear series and, as much as I love Cash‘s character, she spends a lot of time driving, smoking, playing pool, and drinking beer. She‘s slow to make personal breakthroughs and I was getting impatient with her in this one. ⬇️

Feeling so many feels while reading this history and present-day telling of American Indians. Anger, sadness, respect, empathy... but mostly anger. Greed and hierarchy are humanity's biggest downfall. F*ck the Neolithic Revolution. 12,000 years later, and this current state of Earth is the result.
Happy Earth Day 🙃
This graphic novel anthology brings to light the stories of Canadian Indigenous Peoples and their history of colonial resistance. As someone not as familiar with Canadian history, I appreciated the introductions and timelines before each story. These were all compellingly told with varied art styles represented. Overall, a vibrant, informative, and powerful collection.

“So, this is how the channel was formed. It‘s…very beautiful.
We have a story for everything. In the end, they all mean one thing.
Life.”

Several of Midge‘s pieces, particularly the longer more reflective essays, were spectacular. There were even a few shorter satire pieces that made me thing about privilege in new ways, particularly related to language. Sadly, this suffered from bad packaging. ⬇️

This was stellar. Cash‘s character was extremely dynamic and her relationship with Wheaton pulled at my heartstrings. The last 20 pages were so suspenseful, and the ending left room for the sequels without being disappointing on its own. I have already put a hold on the next installment at the library.

This book is most effective if you go in knowing very little about what you're about to read. So I'll call it a pick and leave it at that!
This one will be heading out soon for its #LMPBC journey! @BookishTrish @Read-y_Picker @DinoMom
