Feeling so many feels while reading this history and present-day telling of American Indians. Anger, sadness, respect, empathy... but mostly anger. Greed and hierarchy are humanity's biggest downfall. F*ck the Neolithic Revolution. 12,000 years later, and this current state of Earth is the result.
Happy Earth Day 🙃

3⭐️ I kinda got what the storyline was ; felt that while it was a fast paced book, that there were too many storylines that she concentrated on. The secondary stories seemed to overwhelm the main story. #2021 #fiction #firstnation #magicalrealism #canadian

This was my August #bookspin selection

3⭐️ Came into the book with somewhat high expectations, but I ended up being somewhat disappointed. I felt that it started out strong, but as the book wore on, it came across as being a bit flat and blah by the end. #2020 #bookstagram #bookreview #fiction #canadian #firstnation #ownvoices #dystopian

The words are flaccid, and the things I used to find sacred are torment. I‘m stepping into my own undertow. My own valley is closing in on me.

Pg 17 and already a raw read. #FirstNation

MeikeReads This is such a fantastic book! Have you already read Tommy Orange's #ThereThere? 6y
prowlix @MeikeReads I haven‘t yet but everyone seems to be gushing about it. I‘ll have to put it on the library hold list 6y

Sweet children‘s book about a mother‘s enduring love that also introduces Inuit culture. 5 stars. A Mighty Girl published a good list of kids‘ books featuring protagonists of Native-American and First Nation descent this week: https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=10365 #weneeddiversebooks #NativeAmericanlit #FirstNation #kidsbooks

Tamra I love Lavallee‘s whimsical art. 😄 (edited) 6y

An unpleasant but important read, even for children, and especially now. My library is putting this picture book in our #history section.
