Mehso-so

Generally good artwork, mediocre story = meh 😐
Joker is released from Arkham Asylum because 🤷‍♂️ and immediately goes on a standard Joker murderous rampage. Billed as giving psychological insight into his character, but it utterly fails to do so. But as I say, pretty, if gory, pictures. Just barely 3🃏

TieDyeDude Lee Bermejo is one of my favorite comic artists. I think I read this, but it obviously didn't leave much of an impression. I really liked his Christmas carol adaption, Batman Noel. 2mo
Bookwomble @TieDyeDude It appears to be on lots of "Top GN" lists, and compared to The Killing Joke, but it suffers in that comparison, I think. I wasn't aware of Bermejo before this, and his art is its saving grace. My comics obsession abated about 10 years ago due to overhyped offerings of this kind, and interminable crossovers and title proliferation of my fave characters. It was easier to stop reading altogether than only get part of the story. 2mo
TieDyeDude It is a lot. I tried reading the Tom King “City of Bane“ storyline, but it was inextricably tied to the preceding 74 issues, and not very enjoyable ultimately. @vivastory pointed out that, for DC at least, the Black Label miniseries are self-contained and generally geared more mature. If Joker is one of your favorites, though, I'll mention that I really didn't like the Three Jokers series. 2mo

Power outage at the campground last night due to the wind and the rain. Until it warms up outside or the heat comes back on in the cabin, this is where I‘ll be starting the readathon!

I loved this graphic novel! I remember watching Batman: the animated series when I was a kid and loving the character of Harley Quinn. I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

It has been an interesting start to the day… we haven‘t had power for the last hour and a half… pray for me! #teachersoflitsy

Ruthiella Oh no! We don‘t realize how much we rely on it until it is gone. Hope the situation improves soon! 💡 12mo

Morally gray and having a blast! The bloody Looney Tunes antics continue.
Pretty sure that whole island interlude with the indigenous population wouldn't get past the sensitivity readers if it was published today ...😬

I knew how this story ended, but was not prepared for how poignant the entire tale is. Jason Todd discovers that the woman who raised him was not his bio mom. So he races across the globe to find her. It does not end well for him. Thankfully, this book includes the story of Tim Drake, the next Robin as a much needed palate cleanser. Essential for every Batman fan.

Been on a comic kick lately and I forgot just how good some of these were. This is a dark scenario that is full of humor and tragedy. I enjoy this comic every single time. 💜

Batman - the Killing Joke | Alan Moore, Brian Bolland

What can one say but Alan Moore has an incredible gift for storytelling? And Brian Bolland is one of my Top 5 Batman illustrators. This story shows — like no other Batman story — how the Joker and the Batman are two sides of the same coin. Tragedy struck them both but their madness took them different routes — one the road of the madman villain and the other the path of the obsessive vigilante.

Awk_Word_Smith I'm not blind to the controversy over this particular Batman story, and others are free to debate whether the story needed some of the more graphic scenes, but for me this is a wonderful mirror put up to the Batman mythos. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 2y
